No. 2 great covers and I really like Civil War and You Could Be Mine as GnR singles, but those 14 are not as good, as a unit, as Appetite, IMHO.
Music is subjective, but it is what it is.

No song on UYI would have even sniffed being on Appetite. Coma & Don't Cry are the only 2 great songs on UYI.

I love the Use Your Illusions albums, especially the second one, but Appetite is GNR's best album.
Civil War, Breakdown, So Fine, Estranged

The Use Your Illusion albums cross the street and avert their gaze when they see Appetite For Destruction rumbling down the sidewalk headed their way.

Don't Cry was pretty much my favorite song when it came out, then when the alt lyrics were introduced, I was pissed. I'm glad they didn't seem to stick.

My probably unpopular take on UYI:
1. If those songs were made by any other band at any other time without the ridiculous sight-unseen sales that those albums had when they were released, they would be listened to once (maybe even just halfway through), discarded and never revisited again. Personally, I didn't allow the mere name of the band to add undue significance and that's pretty much how those songs played out for me.
2. If you wanted to create a prototype for garish, ostentatiously horrible taste in rock music it would be hard to find anything more representative of that than November Rain.

Most agree that this is GnR's best song ever. I agree and will carry it a step further: it's one of the most epic and perfect rock songs ever. They fit 3 amazingly different songs into a 10 minute masterpiece.

This!
It's Axl, as an adult, singing his most personal song. Love the lyrics as much as Slash's guitar solos and Dizzy's solo in the middle.
Young at heart and it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart but I mustn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out

THIS MOTHERfrickER IS SPEAKING THE GOSPEL TRUTH!!
When I hear 'November Rain' (or 'Don't Cry') I wish I was deaf. Shitty saccharine pablum for the idiot masses.

Most? That's a helluva broad statement. I don't personally know anyone who'd say that.
I myself say any song off Appetite is better.
