Pelicans are 0-24 this season when they are held to under 100 points as a team.
There are 2 alarming things to take from this.
1. There have been 24 games this season in which we didn't score 100 points.
2. Of those 24 games our defense was unable to step up and win a single game.
That, is terrifying. Has to be historical in some way if anybody could possibly find some past statistics. Words can't really describe the disaster that has been this season. May God help us all.

Shows you how poor our heavy minute players are defensively.

Defense is a whole team thing. You can have minus offensive players and be fine.
One minus defender on the floor and you will suffer.
Problem is we have like 2, maybe 3 plus defenders on our entire roster.

Yeah, and look how many are part of our 4th quarter lineup.
I like ryno, but he's just too much of a liability if he's not making shots. It also forces AD to play a position he isn't suited for

That just drives me nuts. Davis was a monster v GS playing almost exclusively at the 5. He is especially suited to the 5 in the modern era. That doesn't mean you don't have a "5" on the roster, but Davis is a 5 in the playoffs, the way Tim Duncan has been since Robinson retired. A guy like Asik can't stay on the court in May/June because he can't keep up with guards coming off PnR and he can't hurt a team on offense.
It's wild how some Pels fans are looking forward to losing Anderson and okay with Asik sticking around because "he's been better lately" and "cap spike tho." To be clear, both guys are not serious long term core pieces. But I'd much rather have Anderson at $16-$18M than Asik at $9-$10 in a $90M+ cap.
Even if they move Anderson, they won't become a good defense overnight. Problems are much deeper than that. True that 1 guy can wreck a defense, but for the Pels the past few years it's always been more than 1 guy- that includes Davis and Holiday, who have their own issues defensively. Yes, Anderson has physical limitations that will hurt him on defense, but he can hurt teams on the other end, even if he's missing shots. Gravity is real. And 1 guy can screw up an offense- Tony Allen, Splitter, Sefalosha (OKC version) are all a testament to that.
Bottom line is that almost the entire roster, as presently constructed, is a liability. The sooner they can start breaking it down and building one that actually makes sense, the better.

All of that.

And let's be honest. A lot of the all-time greats weren't good defenders. Bird, for example, was a defensive liability, but he was surrounded by great defenders.

The problem is we only have one or two "great defenders" on the team. Jrue and Dante are solid defenders. Asik is above average, but still not great.
Ryno is bad. Davis is pretty bad as well. Davis needs to work on post offense and defense this summer.
You can surround one bad defender with 4 above average/great defenders and it won't hurt too much. You can't surround 3 or 4 bad defenders with 1 or 2 great defenders like we've been doing. Doesn't matter how good you are on offense when the other team can score at will.
Pretty much been the theme of our last 4 losses. When the offense is clicking we look fine and can compete with anyone. When it's not, we are either gonna lose the small lead we have or the deficit balloons. The SA game was a prime example of that. Only way we could have won was to stay hot on offense for the entire 4th quarter. Got out of rhythm for about 5 mins and it was all over.
Cavs game was the same way. As was the Laker game.

Yeah. This team's problem is that it just doesn't fit together.
You can play Anderson, but you need defensive cover. You can play Asik, but you need 4 shooters with him. And it's not just those 2 guys either. Injuries expose this exponentially, but its still there with #fullsquad.
They just don't have enough guys that offer at least some offense and defense to help mask flaws across the roster.
