Cardinals sign Adam Wainwright to 5 year 97.5 million dollar extension

thats 2014-2018.
Not a terrible deal. Its bad luck to have to give a guy an extension at 32 as he's likely at the tail end of his prime. But given that he has potential to return to ace form, 20 million dollars a year is a decent bargain compared to what he likely would have gotten on the free agent market. Especially if he went out and had a Cy Young type year.
That said I hope the Reds knock him around this year.

Its probably above his true value, but you have to "over pay" guys to keep them. Wait till Heyward bens yall over backwards.

You'll be cursing his name in 4 years when he is either constantly injured or terrible.

Yea it takes a season to round back into shape. His second half was a lot better than the first.

Good thing the Cards have a good minor league system to keep young players at a cheap price... Sheesh.
