I think the reason LSU lost is not Ty Lawson's points but ed davis' rebounds. UNC wasn't having a problem scoring without Lawson in the game, they were having a tough time keeping LSU off the glass. Ed Davis plays 25 min, get 9pts and 6 defensive rebounds which basically shut down LSU's offense.
Lawson doesn't get those points if Davis/Hanbrough don't get 15 rebounds. LSU out rebounded UNC 31-29 but UNC got some really big rebounds that started their fast break and gave Lawson the opportunity to make plays.
As far as Lawson, the two big threes he hit early in the second half were by far the biggest contribution in the scoring column. One of them halted the run LSU was on to start the second half.

We lost because we phoned in the last 2 weeks of the season and played our way out of a #4 seed, thus playing a vastly superior team in the 2nd round than we would have otherwise.
BINGO
you catch the #1 in the third round away from their "other" home court, it might have been interesting like it was in 2006 ..

everytime TJ put Quentin Thornton in the game UNC started trapping and making the LSU guards shite becuase they knew they were playing LSU 5vs4
why didnt Storm Warren play?
and where was that lineup that we used against the UK at the end of the game where MT played PG and ran two man game with Tas?

He is no more an offensive threat than Q. It's still 4 on 5.

Our offense didn't lose this game. We shot 50% in the 2nd half and 45% overall. Our problem was stopping them from scoring.

i am no pro but, from playing with my kids, the easiest way to keep flow on offense and keep them from throwing the ball away, when they are in trouble while driving or posting; is to always move to where they can see me and yell for the ball before they get tied up. Not to be critical, but i seen LSU guards(some more than others) in lost games especially , standing at or near the top of the key, with players in between them and Taz-(Taz having the ball) and never moving to where he could see them, and yelling "here's help".
i had tech trouble watching on computer, so could see all the game, but personally i think TJ should let well enough along with CJ, and not having in so much in the strech, because he was not very strong and a TO liabiity but other times in the game or against weaker opponents play him, because he also did some good things . Yeah he had 4 blocks, but 5 TO's in the nC game. Were those turn overs in the final 6 minutes. Not critizing CJ, just saying- use probabilities

They were also a better team this year. With this coach the future is bright.
Agreed. Admitting that the other team was better than LSU seems to be against the rules on this board.

storm would have helped with 5 or 6 good minutes .. Q is just zero offensive threat and has been all season and commits fouls like a microwave .. he did a good job saturday .. but you're right .. it was 4 on 5 ... storm put up some points in the mississippi state double OT game ... UNC was just the first team LSU's played this season that actually trapped hard, challenged every pass, poked at the dribble and just had hands in passing lanes at all times ... i guess TJ was just concerned with marcus handling the ball in double teams .. he does have that dribble off his foot tendency ... guess he just trusted bo and garrett's decision making a little better ...
tasmin mitchell has got to work on going straight up with the ball in the offseason, puts it on the floor way too much in traffic, and has to work on his finese around the glass ... looks like he's playing hand ball sometimes inside or something .. also, awareness of where you are on the court .. how many times does he get himself literally under the basket and still tries to score ?

Bottom line was that LSU just didn't have the horses to run with UNC for a full 40 minutes. With a lack of an inside game, LSU has to shoot lights out from the perimeter. While we did do this at times, we also went into droughts. Against a team like UNC, that kills you.
But, you have to be proud of the way LSU competed. They left it all on the floor, it just wasn't enough against one of the best teams in the tourney.

When you look at it, we didn't have the horses to run with them for a full 20 minutes. They outscored us 17-7 to end the 1st half and 21-7 to end the game.

Maybe so.
But there aren't many people that didn't think LSU had a shot with 7 minutes to go.
I will say, that LSU did better than I expected in that game. I thought NC was probably going to skull drag us, especially with how the 1st half ended.
I think in the end, we got tired and sloppy.

+1
The game was lost on the boards in the 2nd half. LSU was dominating in rebounds through early in the 2nd half, but couldn't seem to get a rebound after the 7 minute mark. UNC was getting 2-3 second chance shots and typically converted. LSU on the other hand was getting one shot, and some of those were pretty poor shot selection.

UNC didn't even bring their best game and they still won by 14. Had Lawson been healthy and had played the last few games, the Tigers would have lost by 20+.
But LSU did play hard. I'll give them that.
