Lol, tell that to Daft Punk or the Chemical Brothers. DP's Discovery album is mostly taking samples and twisting them in ways you'd never guess the original song it came from. The level is sheer ignorance in this topic is pure comedy.
But one dude in this thread said his wife who isnt a musician could make a hip hop song in a minute, you mean hes full of shite????
Im shocked, shocked I tell you.

I agree to a point. There's a great YouTube channel that shows just how intricate and layered some sampling can be.
However, it doesn't take away from the fact that some artists are essentially starting on third base with someone else's finished product.
They aren't musicians. They're knob twiddlers.

Are classical composers musicians?
They routinely borrow pieces of music from other places.

Rap music from the 80’s-early 2000’s was the golden years. It drove off the cliff about 20 years ago.

While I agree that was the golden age (the beginning so often is) the genre is more creative and diverse than ever (check out Schoolboy Q and MIKE's new albums). Some Rap/hip hop is kind of merging w/ alternative/indy. Listen to Amen Dunes and Matt Champion and you can hear elements of the genre. Artists like Migueland Frank Ocean are stretching the genre. Edited to add Mac Millerhas a new single out despite being dead for a while.

I said I could have her making “beats” within a day which is 100% true. I’m sorry that hurts your feelings. On the contrary, it would take her months to even be able to transition chords on a guitar.
I think its so funny that anytime someone says a bad thing about rap you instantly have a legion of goobers rushing to defend it. “You must be a boomer, or old and white, or know nothing about music, or an idiot, or ignorant, etc etc……….”
Now, if someone says modern bro country sucks………crickets………
