they stuck with their core (jokic and murray), took a calculated risk with MPJ, made smart signings (KCP and gordon) and most importantly stuck with their coach

It's also a defensively deficient roster construction. Unless there are rule changes the team should lean into adding more offense.

We had the team to make the finals this year. The West Conf had a lot of injured teams and older guys. We had the squad this fricking year. I'm still salty about it.

I know the odds of making it happen are low, but JV + stuff for Duren and Bogdonavic feels like one of the best big but not blockbuster trades the team could make this offseason.

No way the Pistons do that without multiple firsts.

Dyson over Duren stings more every day…

I said stuff, not filler. And Dyson was a fine pick, you don't pick for need in the top 10. If he ever figures out offense he can become what Lonzo or maybe even Ben Simmons should have been. That's a much more valuable player in today's NBA than a defensive center.

In the spirit of this thread of the Nuggets doing it with an offensively skewed roster, Bogdonavic is my main target there. If the Pels can fill out the center by committee other ways I'd be fine with it. Imagine a lineup of Zion surrounded by CJ/Bogdonavic/BI/Trey. There would be so much space.

Barring injuries...Joker will end up being a top 10 NBA player of all-time. We don't have one of those. If...we had Joker instead of Zion we could definitely win a title, quite soon. I'd even throw in BI along with Zion...to get that guy in his prime. He's THAT good...and makes everybody else better.

Until this organization can find a way to not have insane fluke injury problems with all of their stars, they aren't winning anything

fluke or not, injuries happen. Klay went down for a year and gsw got 2nd pick, which they wasted and imo that bad pick just cost them a run. they needed a really good big vs Davis.
San Antonio got big Timmie when the Admiral missed a year.

Why would Detroit trade Duren?

Jokic is arguably the best player in the NBA right now. Miami actually offers the Pels even more hope. Shows that you can contend without catering to a few hugely paid "stars" if your coaching and team culture are right. Upends conventional wisdom about teams being totally unable to contend without First Team NBA players...
