The Advocate When Kelly arrived, all he heard about the fifth-year linebacker (Baskerville) was that he didn’t go to class. Kelly raised academic expectations around the LSU program, and for Baskerville to get on the field, he needed to meet them.
It was a process. Baskerville, a two-year starter had to work his way back up the depth chart…has become one of the Tigers most productive players, Baskerville now leads no.6 LSU with 63 tackles.
TTT - Sure Kelly is LSU’s $100 million dollar coach, but he sure seems to earn every penny, Kelly now has LSU players winning on and off the field in a very short period of time.
Arriving at LSU, Kelly made his priorities very clear, it’s all about success of the players but not just in football. If you’re trying to find something to hate about this LSU coach, you will be looking for a very long time!

Thanks for sharing. Glad Brian Kelly is the head coach at LSU!

Coach O should be fricking ashamed if they werent even making players show up to class.

Most people naturally tend to rise to expectations and conversely will slack off whenever allowed.
It is quite clear the previous regime had no expectations outside of the football field and not much on the field

most programs have players with academic issues that remain on the team

Alignment is the new binder

Try reading again, maybe you need to go to class.
Having players that struggle academically is not the same thing as requiring class attendance. Attending class is the bare fricking minimum.

LSU sports have people that do attendance checks for every sport, as do most schools. What the punishment for not attending is I'm not sure. But I'd bet Alabama has players that don't like to go to class either.
The difference is, when you're a proven coach, it's easier to get players to buy in.

Great story but uhh how does a guy get to year 5 in the program with a reputation for not going to class, showing up is the bare minimum.
WTF was O doing the last two years

if you think they all go to class you must be real naive. This is a problem at most colleges...sorry you're naive.
Also with the resources ALL programs offer to athletes with tutoring, study halls etc struggling academically should never happen. With all the extra help attending class is not the issue you think it is. Missing the tutoring would be.

The Alabama week episode of The Path on LSU Gold had a clip where BK said that it was their first week where they had perfect attendance in class. Also, the first week with perfect participation regarding turning in some sort of daily check in sheet all the players use.

I think Kelly is setting a standard in college athletics when it comes to what should matter, and he did it under extremely tough conditions. Imagine any coach benching a starter, when you’re depleted of starters.

Dude's a milk-toast phony.
Puts the finger in the air for wind direction then posts as if he huffed and puffed and made it blow that way...

The OP was bleeding all over the board and shitting on the team mid season and acts like he is some big fan

I was an athlete at lsu. We had a study hall proctor poke their head through the door or look through the window and take our attendance if your coach deemed you an academic issue. Most coaches enforced it and their was consequences if you missed
Apparently O was too busy with his own personal issues to care

I understand why you feel the need to lie, you’ve confused me with someone you’ve stolen from or rent from.
