Are wings from Buffalo, NY really that special?

Admittedly I’ve only been to Buffalo, NY once in my life. While there I tried Anchor Bar.

Got the Cajun dry rub with blue cheese (obviously).

But I just say, it left a lot to be desired. They weren’t terrible. But I’ve had similar style and flavor in other parts of the country.

Did I miss something? Is there a better place to try them?

It's just chicken and Buffalo sauce, which is 2 ingredients.

Buffalo doesn't have special chickens nor special hot sauce and butter.

The story of how it came about is cool though

I had them at Pearl Street Grill and they were solid. Nothing you couldn't get anywhere else though.

Had the hot with ranch.

went to anchor bar once and they were ok, but nothing life changing. all the locals harrassed me over it saying thats not the best place. it was the experience for me.

if in buffalo i thought it was a cool little dive type, historic building. and they have a full bar which is just as good as any. while there someone invited us to the bills tailgate the next day which was pretty cool. csb

its the same damn chicken in Biloxi that it is in Manhattan and they only thing that changes, if any, is the seasonings they use

Anchor Bar is a tourist trap. Buffalo folks don’t go to Anchor Bar.

Bar-Bill’s has the best wings I’ve ever had in my life. Cajun honey butter BBQ flavor is their most popular.

I hear Gabriel’s Gate and the Nine Eleven tavern mentioned a lot by my friends up there also. Never been to those though.

So you went to BUFFALO to get BUFFALO wings and you got cajun dry rub now you're saying it was ok

You should try going to a night game in Tiger Stadium by watching it from Pluckers

Was told that was not legit. Dry rub is the only way to go.

I have a friend from up there and he says 3. Chicken, Frank's and liquid margarine. Although I'm sure you considered butter part of Buffalo sauce.

Cool. But you didn't get buffalo wings. And you're asking about buffalo wings.
