I thought today was going to be a good day chasing specks. When I left Treasure Pass, birds were everywhere. Unfortunately so were the gafftops. It was too rough to venture farther out, so I went after reds in the marsh. No luck.

yes specks are more preferred but you catch whats biting and gafftops are good eating catfish

Yeah I eat the hell out of them. My wife is very picky, she can't tell the difference.

Yeah the gafftops have been voracious lately. Hearing similar reports from just about everyone.

Only thing bad about a box of gafftop is cleaning the ice chest when you get home. Other than that, great eating fish. Family loves them fried up in bite sized pieces.

Had a similar expierence yesterday out of Beshel's. Gaftops crushing the shrimp creole TKO shrimp. Then floated some ponds and did not see a red fish to target.

Every gafftop I've caught this summer was on plastic. Hard plastic jerk baits and soft plastic matrix.

Redfish numbers have got to be way down. Bow hunters do work on em every night
