Can an intraoral scanner scan things outside the mouth? Like a model car that is around 6 inches long while picking up all the detail?

Have done some searching and have found nothing.

This sounds like an interesting dentist visit.

Thanks for posting something that will take the heat off my back for posting a “Can you launch an amateur rocket into orbit and circumvent FAA licensing?” thread.

Cool. Looking to scale up some models and scanning an existing one would make things a lot easier.

btw-Do dentists generally do their own 3D printing these days or do they farm it out?

Little bit of both. A lot of offices have an in-house printer, but plenty send out to labs for printing also

No clue. But I know dentists don't work on Fridays.

Dentists are not doctors.

Dentists are a scam. Just brush your own teeth

Surely your proctologist has the technology to handle it himself.

I brush mine twice a day - I had my first dental cleaning in 5 years a few months ago - they acted surprised that my teeth were perfect - I also don't drink soda or eat much sugar.

Brush twice a day, floss regularly and use the rinse. Last week at the annual cleaning, the new hygienist tells me I have pockets, need the scaling asap (1200) and quarterly cleaning...... I'm getting a second opinion.

You might be better off with a desktop scanner for that purpose.

Just make sure that the file it produces is in an STL format so you can print it.

What type of printer are you looking at?

Stop putting foreign objects* into your orifices.

*This also means your relationship with Owlie is unhealthy.
