I’ll say this in this thread as well, I’m pretty sure that if we win tomorrow morning and are tied with Aggie ,at least for a moment until the Saturday games are finished, then we will be in third because we would have the tiebreaker which is overall record.

I believe it trumps head to head in a 2 team tiebreaker. They would get it for head to head if we both had the same records overall.

Arkansas lost and auburn /Aggie both won. This shits getting tight and it’s important to be in the top 4 to get that bye

I’m not gonna look it up but I wonder what auburns overall record is? I’d like to know if we would get the tiebreaker

ETA their 34-16 so it will be close there too if we tie them

Absofruitly not. Head to head in the SEC is the tiebreak. LSU loses a tiebreak with any of Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Are you positive? Because the sec website was showing us leading when we were tied due to overall record

Yeah. The people running the site don't feel like punching in the algorithm and doing the tiebreaks because they can get complicated so they just take the lazy route and sort by overall record.

I wonder how 3 team tiebreakers go then? Because In football, they throw out the head to head stuff when it’s 3 team tied. Even if one team beat the two other teams

Ties will be broken in the following manner: 1. Two-Team Tie. The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken: A. Won-lost results of head-to-head competition between the two tied teams. B. If two-teams are divisional opponents: (1) Won-lost percentage within their division (over the 18-game SEC division schedule). (2) Won-lost percentage of the two teams versus the No. 1 team in their division (and proceeding through the No. 7 team, if necessary). C. If two teams are not divisional opponents: (1) Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed using common opponents only (and proceeding through the No. 12 seed, if necessary). (2) Coin flip by the Commissioner 2. Three-Team Tie (or more). The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken: (Note: If the three tied teams have three different records against each other, they shall be seeded in best-percentage order.) Otherwise, once the tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker procedure will be used. A. If all three teams are common opponents: Total won-lost percentage of games played among the tied teams. B. Won-lost percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed and proceeding through the No. 12 seed, if necessary, using common opponents only. C. If three or more teams still are tied, the Commissioner will conduct a draw.

In other words we're going to lose basically any tiebreaker in the West.

LSU will most likely NOT get one of those byes. I believe this mainly because the Aggies have such an easy path and we have a harder path (not to mention we are already behind to OMiss in G1).

Remember that 2 SECE and 2 SECW teams get those buys. Either UGA or Vandy will get one of those byes even though they may have a lesser SEC record.

I don’t think that’s right. The 2 division winners get a bye and the 3rd and 4th bye go to the team with 3rd or 4th best record regardless of division.

EDIT: Found the rules:
The two division champions shall be automatically seeded number one and number two based on winning percentage in conference competition. The rest shall be seeded numbers three through 12 based on winning percentage without regard to division.

We need 4 more SEC wins, and even that doesn't guarantee a top 4 finish. Tenn, Arky, and A&M are all on track for 18+ wins and hold tie-breakers over us. We're really competing with auburn for that 4th spot and they hold the tiebreaker as well. Before last night we were 1 game ahead of them so we just needed to win as many as they do from here on out but they have the easier schedule with Bama and UK left. I'd feel good with 4 wins, but auburn could force us to need 5. 3 wins is likely not enough.
