Can established pro athletes (ie Tyrann Mathieu, PP7, etc) get involved in the NIL space?

Seems like a no-brainer for a pro to reach out to a guy like Jacoby Matthews and offer to be a rep for their personal branded gear. I could even see it moving to the point of including branded cleats, gloves, armbands, other swaggy accoutrement with personalized branding for the student-athlete

That’s actually pretty good. Guys connected to football with loads of $$ that have a school connection but no official capacity.

I just don't see NFL players wanting to give up loads of cash to help out the football team at their alma maters

I think Shaq could handle the whole thing by himself

You guys aren’t getting it. NIL is not advertising. Ads the the guise but it’s all just straight bribery.

Not sure how having a player where another players gear is going to boost their sales.

Again, NIL when it works best is a bribe, the ad means nothing.

It’s a payment for services. I don’t think you get it.

LSU wants to stay competitive in the NIL era? Get your wealthy alumni to ante up. “Here’s $100K to wear a PP7 hat and post a pic on Instagram. -Love, Patrick”

People with the frick you money to help us compete in this space don't just grow on trees and frankly don’t give a damn about selling t shirts. But if the new model is recruitment-by-proxy, then sooner or later the rich proxies need to come forward in some capacity

While i agree mathieu gave up a mil and said if stingley would've won the heisman or thorpe award he would donate another mil.

The honey badger bleeds lsu. Guys like damone clark, devin white, honey badger, and jefferson rep lsu no matter what.

Need a couple of those guys every class to keep the team in line.

Love what bech, nabers, howard, and welch are doing. They will be the next foundation.

I love this idea, and it’s not that far fetched when you consider the donations some of these guys make back to the program already. Badger has already been mentioned in this thread as a guy that has made some generous donations. And let’s be real, even before NIL this type of stuff was already happening. There was an interview where Charles Barkley said that he saw some kid playing basketball in Germany, and immediately called his agent and told him “get in touch with Dirk Nowitzki. Tell him I’ll give him anything he wants to play basketball at auburn.” It didn’t work, but it still shows these things were happening and being kept under wraps.
