Woody didn’t want O to have the chance to win enough games to keep his job. He fired him as soon as he had a chance to.

Woodward wanted to make the football hire. It was best for Woodward.
The Kentucky loss gave him the opening and he took it and removed all risk of a good enough season they O might have survived.
It was done and nothing would change that.
No week to week talk about how hot or cold Orgerons seat was also a benefit....to Woodward.

Easy. To avoid any issues getting rid of O. Look at USC for all the evidence you need. Helton made it further than anyone expected last year and had a decent recruiting class, so USC balked and felt they had to keep him. Then they turned around and fired him at the first sign of trouble this year.
You avoid that by making the move as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Woodward is very thankful today he did what he did.
How close was Orgeron to beating Arkansas and Bama.
Woodward would have had a tough time canning O at 8-4 with a win over Bama.

Agreed. I didn’t like it then for what was obviously going to happen. Recruiting, keep you eye on it, that’s my biggest concern.
