But you're the one choosing to perceive him that way. If you know Orgeron's hire shouldn't impact it, don't let it impact it.

You can only control how you feel about it. Who cares if others don't like it? I'd take winning games over winning optics every time.

You’re a stalker who falls for bait.

I’ve made it pretty clear that Napier will be the hire but fricking with idiots like you is the real prize.

Why in the hell would you say that? He seems to be a good coach.

Disagree with that

Hiring Napier will actually be lauded the more you leave Louisiana. Not that it’s makes it awesome to think some joker in New York likes the hire, but just saying.

Lauded by who? Ever since Orgeron was fired, I've had friends and coworkers ask me my thoughts on hiring Tucker, Jimbo, Riley, Franklin, even Fleck and Tomlin. Not once have I ever been asked about Napier.

When I brought Napier up to my Ohio State and Notre Dame buddies, they asked where he coached at.

Not that my anecdotal experience in the Midwest means a ton, but this board way overestimates how much of the country knows anything about ULL, much less Billy Napier.

I don’t think you understand what a melt is.

Would you care to wager that it’s Napier ?

I don't know about a mass exodus of fans but there will be many upset boosters!

The Florida boards are in love with him, will say that, so they know.

But as pointed out earlier, very rare for coaches at a good p5 job to leave for another, very rare.

I love napier and think he would do great, but he absolutely would be a let down after going for Riley. I think he would work out but you can't blame fans for being emotional.

I been saying for 2 weeks now since it came out we were going after Riley that napier would be the hire in the end.

At this points it's Riley or bust cause

Tucker, jimbo, fickel, Cristobal are all out. Strong indication that Campbell has has his agent stop taking calls. Aranda in negotiations with usc which is his dream job so your essentially down to

Napier
Stoops
Kiffin
Gundy
Chadwell

Gundy and Stoops suck
Chadwell has had ncaa sanctions and never been a part of a p5 program

So choose between kiff and napier.

One has never put back to back good seasons together and failed the last time he got a big job. Napier has also been better at ull than kiff was at fau.

Considering the fact that there’s a civil war going on between the boosters, no. Still think it could shift.

Look, I’m not the insider type legendary poster kinda guy. I actively troll and make fun of that whole shtick a lot of guys go after. Look at my sig. I make posts for my own amusement a lot of times and it may seem insane or nonsensical and I’ll give you that, but I do know about this coaching search and I know that Napier has been in contact with Woodward about it before Orgeron was ever fired and that Woodward has made assurances that Napier would be strongly considered for the job no matter what. It’s crunch time now and they swung and missed (like the Napier folks expected) but there’s also a consortium of influential people that find Napier unpalatable and are pushing Aranda very hard.

I wanted to see how many people knew Napier well when I made that thread earlier. If you know Napier you’d get a kick out of that thread.

I know napier is high on the list and is being considered. Also know Riley hasn't given indication it's a no to our side.

And have no doubt what you are saying is true though.

New guy here but will confirm, a LOT of Gator fans, myself included, want Napier if we can Dan.

It pretty much goes, Urban number one, which is of course a pipe dream...And number two is a mixture of Lane and Napier...Nobody around here would be disappointed with Napier, he's really good and we'd be really happy.

He’s not seriously considering LSU.

Saban or even better? We’ll, since the inception of statistics in college football as a freakin sport, no one other than Bear Bryant should even be mentioned in the same breath until they earn it. You do understand that’s it’s almost impossible for any of us to see another Saban in our lifetime right? Or better? Lol come on.

With money going through the roof for HC’s now coupled with insane expectations, it’s becoming more impossible by the day for another Saban to ever come along.also, when you factor in the modern transfer portal and NIL, it becomes harder and harder to sustain depth and have kids that actually play for three years at any given school. This might be the biggest reason of all that we will never see another Saban again.

Pretty sure you guys can’t afford to swing and miss on yet another hire. Been a while since your program has been strong and you simply can no longer afford to take that kind of chance again.

Irrelevant to the discussion. We are talking from a fan base perspective here. This fan base is expecting a splash hire from Woody especially after his last two hires.

I can promise you Woodward’s goal isn’t to appease the average fan who only wants a big name hire. He’s not trying to win the press conference. He wants the coach that in 5 years is loved by all LSU fans because he’s winning big.

That’s his job. And if he thinks Napier is the guy he won’t hesitate to make the hire. No one in the CFB industry will look at the hire poorly. Napier is well-regarded.

Now if you can pull Riley you win the press conference AND likely championships. That’s what Woodward is going for reportedly in his pursuit of Riley. If it doesn’t happen, and Napier is hired we may have hit a goldmine. Maybe not. But he is unlikely to fail at LSU for several reasons. His program structure philosophy, his training under NC-winning coaches, his recruiting abilities, his familiarity with every high school in La, and LSU’s resources add up to a promising level of success.
