Last night, for probably the 20th time, I went to Digiulio Brothers Italian Cafe in Baton Rouge and had the soft shell crab. That is by far the best soft shell crab I have ever eaten at any restaurant. I almost had a heart attack earlier in the week when I didn't see it on their website updated menu. When I walked in the restaurant, sat at the bar and looked at the chalk board menu, my dream was fullfilled, when I saw it under Specials on the wall. Granted I've lived in Waco for over 36 years, but I come to Baton Rouge frequently for LSU events, graduated from LSU (undergrad and law school - it wasn't there when I lived in BR), grew up in Lake Charles and had a fishing camp in Big Lake for over 12 years, so I think I know seafood and I defintely know blue crab (been catching those since I was 5, over 55 years ago). If you haven't tried the soft shell crab, I would highly recommend going there and ordering it. Everyone that I have brought with me into their restaurant raves about the food as well. I know this sounds like an ad for Digulio's, but I don't know the owners (although I did compliment one of the owners last night when he walked behind the bar). 5 star soft shell crab.

Must have been Mike. I love DiGiulio's. I'm usually in there a couple of times a week.

Did you get it sautéed?

100%

Mike has been there since I was a kid. I’m almost 35 now.

I got it fried on a bed of pasta. Had a sauce of some kind on it, but not sure the name of the sauce.
