Prepare your anuses - domestic supply chain is about to get a lot worse come December

I work in truck and rail logistics for a mega retailer. Just got off a conference call with one of our main flatbed and dry van carriers on the West Coast.
Our overall metrics took a cliff dive this week because drivers who have been working all year and making BANK due to the hyperinflated rates on truckloads are taking extended time off - I'm talking all of November, December, and January - because they don't need the money.
My company has been paying double what we normally do to procure truck drivers to pick up loads out of California... that rate is about to triple.
Amazon is offering a $10K/week guarantee for drivers during the holiday season.
On top of this, the railroads are consolidating trains (further implementing what's called PSR, or Precision Scheduled Railroading) because of the scarcities of crews. Fewer, longer trains, which means bottlenecks will be even more critical.
Buckle up and get your Christmas gifts now, if at all.
Thanks Brandon!

The Biden apologists will be here shortly to tell you it’s not his fault and there’s nothing he can do.

Anyone that voted for this dolt deserves to have their Christmas ruined.

Sorry, meant to reply to Volsout. Does the vaccine mandate play into any of this?

If 10K a week for 3 months is sustainable, I might just learn to drive a rig for 3 months a year and hang out 9 months.
That is if I don't have to provide my own truck.

Local grocery stores are starting pay at $17.50 an hour. Inflation will worsen too. Its going to get very nasty.

Yesterday, I spoke with CEOs from major retailers Walmart and Target — and leading freight movers FedEx and UPS.
They’ve assured me that shelves will be well-stocked in stores this holiday season.

I have what i would consider to be a good job. This is substantially more than I make.
Please gib job? Im not above driving trucks for 10k a week. Assuming you dont mean 10k a week for drivers with their own big rig…
