Just wondering. Has he ever F’d up before? Any hire he regrets? Getting Mulkey to come home was great, but that’s the WBB equivalent of Nick Saban. No brainer.

Johnson seems like a home run (pun intended) so far.

I know he *can* bag a big name, but let’s not be Aggies in caring more about showing everyone what we can do vs just getting the best man for the job. Big name, up and comer, who cares. Nobody is without risks. Even Grandma Saban isn’t a home run these days.

Did he hire Sark and Petersen at Washington?

Buzz Williams was seen as a great hire at the time for our Men's Basketball. However, he has not panned out at all.

Don't really think that has anything to do with Woodward though, Buzz had a great track record at Marquett and VTech.

…he just got there 2 seasons ago and took over a program that was a wildly inconsistent over the previous decade.

Is Sark his worst hire? Sark seems to be everyone’s worse hire.

I’m not getting at anything with my question BTW. I know he’s well regarded as an AD, just wondering if it’s because of his ability to hire or raise money (or both?)

All perspectives welcome. Just wondering track record. Tell me what to think

At least Sark made UW decent. Post Neuheisel bracket firing was some dark times for that program

Was getting ready to say the same. Buzz is a weird person in general, wonder if he sat down and interviewed him or largely hired him on reputation.

And those dark times were all under the Mark Emmert administration. Other than bringing Saban to LSU, Emmert is a fraud.

UW’s only losing football seasons since the mid 1970’s were ALL under Emmert’s short/shitty reign as UW President.

Former Aggie assistant that wanted back to Texas. Woodward basically just allowed it to happen.

Yep. Coming off a Sweet 16 that year. He was a hot name that a lot of people wanted.

I agree Jimbo wasn't worth 7 Million a year then, and he still ain't worth it. He's an above average coach. He's probably worth 5 Million a year within this current astronomical landscape.

This was a bad hire to you? How has Washington done since he departed?

EVERYONE on this board said he was a lunatic and crazy for his hire Jimbo to A&M.

Now, he’s perfect and we love him (both actually)!!!

This is revisionist bullshite. Huge contingent of folks on here said they got the guy Alleva couldn’t and that Woodward was given a blank check to get him and did.

I think more people were jealous than mocking it actually.

Few and far between. Know a to of tiger fans and can literally think of 1 who said it was going to be a good deal for Aggie and that they did not overpay.
