Allen Edmonds is holding its annual shell Cordovan trunk show. It came out with a new color that is just plain hideous: marbled black, a mixture of black, green, and orange. trunk show

Although it did offer a color summary you may like: natural.

First two are butt ugly regardless of color. The last two are not bad.

Problem is because it is marbled, you don't know exactly how the shoe or boot is going to look. It may be nearly all-black, or it may be heavy on the orange and green.

Id wear the last shoe in Walnut. Others try way too hard.

There are hipster millennials all over creaming in their jeans right now over those boots

I think the marbling has potential to be a cool look but each pair is going to have too much variation.

The one positive of Covid is that I haven’t had to buy a new dress shirt/slacks/shoes over the past year and a half.

The natural to me is a boring color. Walnut more interesting.

Do they make the second boot in white and red?

Brandy colored boot in that style would look good. I don’t mind the “burnt toe” color variation, but the hypercolor look in the first two pics is a bit much.

I had a jury trial recently and all my suits had a layer of dust on shoulders.

It's those mornings where you hope for one more wave.

For that kind of money, I’m buying Alden. AE shoes are mostly made in the Dominican. Aldens are still made in the US. They just introduced tanker boots made of shell cordovan. Very nice, but can’t justify as I just don’t wear nice stuff as frequently.

BS. The cordovan line is made in Wisconsin as are the dress shoes and boots.

Aldens cost more than AE.

The trunk show shoes are $725. That's getting in Alden territory. The Indy cordovan is another $100 or so

They are finished in Wisconsin, which qualifies as “made in America”. They are cut and sewn in the DR.

I’d spend $100 more for a US-made product

The green ones are handy for when you win (or lose) the big case and get so drunk you puke all over your shoes.
