Boosters have told Scott Woodward that money is no object. They are beyond frustrated that the Miles and Orgerons have been the face of their beloved University. Leaks have confirmed that $10M+ has been secured to bring a professional coach to BR. In fact, media is using the term 'blank check' to describe the level of booster support. So who can command a blank check offer? That list is very short

Saban 9.8M
Jimbo 9M
Dabo 8.4M
Urban (originally asked for $12M from Jags)
Bob Stoops - falls in a gray area. He is a proven winner and recruiter at the highest level, but was making around $6M when he retired

These guys havent won on the big stage. In fact, there is only 2 playoff wins out of the entire group (Smart, Day). So this group is not the guys that SW needed $12M to secure their services. Its also really hard to convince boosters to pay these guys way more money than Saban, with 7 championships

Shaw 8.9M
Mullen 7.6M
Lincoln 7.6M
Smart 7.1M
Franklin 7M
Day 6.6M
Fitzgerald 5.8M
Tucker 5.6M
both Kellys ??/5.6M
Fickell 3.4M
Petersen 4.6M at retirement

Then you get to the list of guys that are mostly smoke, because its not taking anywhere near $10M to grab any one of these. This is also the list that signifies that Woodward struck out several times with $10M offers, These are not the guys Woodward had in mind when he told the boosters he had a guy, and needed big dollars to grab him

Aranda
Brady
Campbell
Chadwell
Fleck
Herman
Kiffin
Napier
O'Brien

As far as Riley rumors go, I read them on here. He previously rejected the Eagles overtures, so he really wasnt expected to jump to LSU, just a few months later. I mean, has he even been asked about an LSU offer?

That’s the great thing about Urban. You can guarantee him 10 years, but you’ll never have to pay it. He will have a championship roster by year 3, then win a natty, self-destruct, and resign by year 6.

Seriously though. 10 or even 12 million probably isn’t getting Saban or Jimbo. I do think Dabo is in play though.

Boosters would absolutely pay for a $10+ million contract for Riley.

You're getting a coach with a 54-8 record, multiple CFP appearances, top 10 offenses, and Heisman caliber QBs almost on a yearly basis.

Now combine that pedigree with Louisiana talent/recruiting/resources. You're looking at championships.

Seriously, just imagine a Lincoln Riley LSU offense with a guy like Caleb Williams at QB, Boutte, Brian Thomas JR, Nabers, Bech, etc. With a real defensive coordinator and the type of secondary that we routinely field.

You're looking at the makings of a perennial top 5 program.

Your point is well made. The top name is the one. I know people may laugh at that but it’s the only logical conclusion.

Considering what has happened at Tennessee, Texas and currently in Florida it only stands to reason that Woodward secured our new coach as soon as he knew we would need one. We know before the 2020 season Woodward knew O was not up to the job so I expect he secured our coach before the 2021 season started. The money has already been approved since Woodward passed on firing O for cause and paid him $17 million.

So, it stands to reason that Woodward secured Saban. Time will certainly tell.

That’s perfect. But give him 10 a year. After he’s fired from the jags he cannot go back to TV due to the erotic finger banging

There is no hard evidence that Riley was offered, just speculation. And he already told the Philadelphia Eagles he wasnt leaving OKLA

Few will remember Miles for this. I doubt he gets invited back after his sex scandals.

1) Bama debacle
2) Clock management
3) Only 2-loss champion
4) Outdated offenses
5) No QB development
6) Eating grass
7) Campus sex pad
8) Big tit blondes

Then why did Woodward give O a raise and extension if he knew he wasn’t the right guy?

It was built in his contract. Most coaches have a clause giving them a raise and extension if they win a National Championship. He had to do that deal.

You seriously think Jimbo will turn down 10 plus million. A&M recruiting in Texas will become harder with Texas moving to the SEC.

ATM can offer him any amount LSU can offer him. He’s already averaging $9.5 million there. If they have to bump him another $500k, they’ll do it. Hell, if they have to bump him another $2.5 million they’ll do it. They cannot afford the PR nightmare or the hit to their program of losing a head coach to us. They will not let it happen.

You also forget, there’s no state income tax in Texas. They can pay 6% less than whatever we offer.

Riley will never win a championship at OU. Hell, they didn’t even land in the Top 4 in the first rankings. When and if they do make the play-offs, they get smoked in the semi’s. So, he’d be smart to make the move.

You won’t believe this but urban didn’t want the jags job. He wrote down 12.5 thinking they would say no and they didn’t.

Alabama would pay Saban $50 million before they let him walk. And it would be a bargain.
