Has anyone in the media asked this question?

We’re axing him 2 years after the best season in college football history. The season is done why not just let him ride it out?

Because O knows where the bodies are buried

This. Also, what fricking difference would it make if we had Mickey Joseph or some schmuck coaching the team for 5 games? There is no one on staff that we or any program of our caliber would consider for the permanent job. The season is lost. We're cleaning house at the end of the season anyway. Players will leave. Players will transfer in.

That's what it seems like.
Does O have information of illegal activity?
I just find it strange that a fired employee of a University is still allowed to stay and speak on the Universities behave.

even if true he is getting his full buyout...the logic is terrible

Because while we all want to crucify O for the last 2 seasons, a lot of people respect the guy, including players. He gets to ride off into the sunset, and we all know that this season isn't salvageable, and LSU knows it as well.

What don't you get? Do you think we should get in a protracted legal dispute with O over his buyout when we are subject to numerous investigations? Do you know what happens in legal disputes? Discovery. Facts come out. He has dirt on LSU and vice versa. Let him take his money and keep his mouth shut and everyone moves on.

We better cremate these bodies you speak of or else we'll be buying out every HC we dont like from here on out

They should have fired his arse after last year. The covid excuse gave all the supporters more ammo to keep him this year.
Posted on 11/2/21 at 11:54 am to LawrenceD
Because how do we benefit from getting rid of him mid season vs the end of the season?

Why would he say anything...he has gotten his entire buyout. The crap you just said only applies if LSU tried to not give him his buyout.

Man, you're so close to getting it. Just missing a few IQ points.

They paid him to keep his big mouth shut and to impose contractual consequences if he doesn't. Woody is smart enough to know that nothing good will come from trying to shave a few million off Ed's buyout.

Would you have rather he waited until the end of the season to announce he's going to be fired so all our fans can bitch even more and uncertainty as to Orgeron's future remain. Or would you have liked a lame duck assistant who won't be back to take over for the rest of the year? Nothing Woodward did was going to salvage this season or make the transition to a new regime come any quicker. When you fire a coach, you can't just expect all the problems to just disappear during the season.

his buyout has with it clauses that essentially put Orgeron on a gag order for the next 4 years. If he violates those terms, he doesn't get his buyout. Woodward structured his buyout in that manner so Orgeron could be controlled and not just start opening his mouth as soon as the ink dries.

I doubt any staff want a bite of Ed's shitburger.
The captain of Titanic just took off in a $17M lifeboat, and OP (et al) shocked no volunteer to go down with the ship.

If you honestly can’t figure out why it’s in LSU’s best interest to keep him somewhat happy with this deal, then I can’t help you.

Exactly this is my point! This is why everyone saying otherwise is a dumbass. And this happens everywhere and is standard for all coaches.
