As someone who likes Aranda and Tucker, what are the arguments for Aranda over Tucker?

I’ve seen a decent amount of discussion and would’ve expected Tucker to be preferred simply due to more experience. Is it because of Aranda’s familiarity with LSU?

All I've heard is familiarity.

He fields better defenses than Tucker. Familiarity is a good selling point because he knows the environment he's working in and we also know what we're getting.

Dave was a better coordinator and had a huge hand in our recent success plus was the glue in some less successful years. He’s intimately familiar with the program and current football ops people.

The one thing Tucker has is nfl experience but his defenses were pretty awful

Aranda has a much better track record as a Defensive coordinator than Tucker.

Recruiting.

I like Aranda, he’s in my top 4. But if you hire him Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State will be camping out here every weekend.

Aranda's defenses would probably be better, but Tucker would no doubt be a superior recruiter.

Louisiana would be locked down.

Uh..because Tucker sucks! All he has is he coached under Saban!

Aranda is the smartest coach I have ever seen

Aranda's defensive schemes are better suited against the modern spread schemes. Tucker's defense is getting shreaded at Michigan State. Aranda has worked here and knows the ins and outs. Aranda appears to have little to no ego. He will not put his fingers into the offense. We would know what we are getting with Aranda, Tucker we have no clue.

I have zero concerns over Aranda being an amazing coach.

My concern with him is whether or not he has enough of a personality to be successful in recruiting. That is a special talent, I don’t know the guy, and I’ve never seen him be very dynamic in a press conference. He may be a total salesman on recruiting visits.

Tucker - I have zero doubt he would kill recruiting. And his players would run through a wall for him. But I don’t think he has the genius level game planning skills Aranda does.

Aranda was at LSU for 5 years recruiting LA schools. He is a name brand in the state and already has relationships established with LA coaches and recruits. Tucker would be an unknown, at least for the short term.

I think both would do great. Would be happy with either. Our last 2 were buffoons.

Aranda knows the climate/culture. Only reason for the preference
