As someone who likes Aranda and Tucker, what are the arguments for Aranda over Tucker?

I’ve seen a decent amount of discussion and would’ve expected Tucker to be preferred simply due to more experience. Is it because of Aranda’s familiarity with LSU?

All I've heard is familiarity.

He fields better defenses than Tucker. Familiarity is a good selling point because he knows the environment he's working in and we also know what we're getting.

Aranda had better defenses at LSU and Wisconsin than Tucker had in the NFL?! I'll be damned LOL
Some of these guys starting on defense at UGA were Tucker recruits.

I feel like UGA under Tucker was still a product of Kirby.
Hey, I could be wrong, but I am just more impressed by Aranda's overall climb. I think he made more of a name for himself without working under people like Kirby or Saban. Some people like to add more points for this. I actually don't.
And if it's close, what's wrong with familiarity? Aranda just won a Natty at LSU. Can you seriously fault people for slightly preferring him? I sure can't.

Dave was a better coordinator and had a huge hand in our recent success plus was the glue in some less successful years. He’s intimately familiar with the program and current football ops people.
The one thing Tucker has is nfl experience but his defenses were pretty awful

The fact that some people want to dismiss Tucker's time as an NFL DC shows how truly stupid they are.

Aranda has a much better track record as a Defensive coordinator than Tucker.

See what I mean. If it was anyone else their NFL Coordinator experience would take precedent over college football coordinator experience. But, Mel doesn't get this privilege. Why?

Recruiting.
I like Aranda, he’s in my top 4. But if you hire him Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State will be camping out here every weekend.

Uh, in his seven years as NFL DC, his defenses were in THE BOTTOM TEN six times. He was the worst DC in Bears modern history. He was fired and driven from the league in shame.

But they’ll take Matt Rhule and his “NFL experience” any day

Of course, Mel is just an affirmative action hire who had no business coaching in the NFL, Bama, UGA, LSU and Ohio State.

Aranda's defenses would probably be better, but Tucker would no doubt be a superior recruiter.
Louisiana would be locked down.

So was Kirby defense at Alabama just a product of Saban?

And? NFL coordinators are better coaches than college football coordinators. Period. Your last two head coaches were never NFL coordinators. Never.

The appeal of matt rhule has little to do with his nfl experience

Go look at his college HC record and tell me that again. BTW, I actually think Rhule is a good college HC. But I’m using this board’s logic.

Comparing NFL to college shows how stupid you are. It's not a secret some NFL coaches who are successful would fail in NCAA just like great NCAA coaches will fail in NFL. There's no shame in it. 2 totally different environments to coach in. Tucker's defenses have been awful in NCAA.
It's not hard to understand. Tucker hasn't proven enough to get a call from LSU. Aranda hasn't for that matter either. If we're going to pick one, it's going to be Aranda because we know what he's capable of doing as a coach here. Anyone can see this except a shallow gene pool gump fan.
