How often would you say you and your family eat out at restaurants? Do you prefer eating out versus cooking at home? Do you thinking it can be addicting and detrimental to your budget to eat out too much?

We have two unruly toddlers so not very often right now. Maybe once a week lunch at a place on Sat. or Sunday.

Me and my wife go to a nice dinner alone once or twice a month.

Never. Prices are jacked and service sucks. Most of the rest of the world doesn't eat out so I don't feel like I'm missing out on a much needed service or luxury. Maybe one day if the industry dies and is reborn but I won't hold my breath.

It used to be once or twice a week. COVID and lockdowns came along and once those eased up out dining out went down to once or twice a month. We learned that we like cooking better. Even the kids have learned how to cook some things and are good at it.

With prices rising it’s becoming less and less. Eat out for dinner once a week. Half and half on lunch

Once a week or so at a sit down place. I might grab lunch somewhere once or twice a week, also.

Not often at all, but we do carryout from places. Most people (especially the younger generation) I think sees it as a bit of a waste of time going through the whole restaurant thing.. waiting to be seated, order, wait for food, etc. I could be completely wrong though...

Depends. I make some things I love. I'm the cook in the family. Wife struggles in the kitchen. Sometimes I may crave something only available at a certain restaurant though. It's like everything else, sometimes you're in the mood to cook, sometimes you're not. I prefer eating at home though I guess.

Not sure what the question means... you worried about people going broke from eating out?

Not addicting but too expensive to do it too often.

Twice or so a week, although it's take out. We haven't had a meal in a restaurant since before covid unless traveling.

We grab takeout about once a week. Fast food maybe twice per month. Sit down restaurants maybe twice per month.

Eat out or takeout, pretty much daily.

But I’m a realtor and on the go a lot. I did over 500 showings last year, am already past that again this year.

I’d rather eat my or my wife’s cooking most of the time. There are only a few places that cook a better steak than me.

It used to be much more, now maybe once a week. I have always liked to cook.
One of our favorite places here was never cheap but now their prices are just high. A burger that was normally 18 is now 26. Steak frites now 56. We sat at the bar and had two drinks, mine was a chance cocktail and the wife had a glass of wine, 33 bucks.

Once during the week and 2-3 times on weekends. We have a 3 year old, so he usually shares what either my wife or I order. It will definitely go down once he's old enough to have his own order.

I prefer cooking at home, but my wife doesn't, so we go out to eat

Not addicting, but definitely detrimental to your budget. Eating out can be very expensive and a waste of money.

Maybe once a 4-5 times a year. The idea of dressing up, driving to a restaurant, wait for a seat, make small talk with the waiter, more waiting, and forced tipping for mediocre service is not appealing. It was when I was younger but not now.

Probably do takeout a few times a month. Rarely sit down somewhere in town. Conversation with others gives me the vomits. I'd rather just cook at home. Since I work offshore I have plenty of time to do it right.

once a week, sometimes two if theres an occasion like birthday or anniversary. I always look forward to the experience but once done feel I could have done better at home.

I am in my 40s, so the thing stopping me from going more often is health. I have hypertension and gout and Louisiana food is a killer for both those ailments.

As a family, probably 5 times or less per month. Usually less but I can’t count my wife going out to lunch at work. She probably does that 3/wk.
