Lost Tailgating Spot

We have tailgated in the lot along highland by Knapp Hall for about 2 yrs now, but last game we were forced to pack up and leave or face arrest.
Like many tailgaters we just accumulate an enormous amount of gear every year, so after last season we bought a trailer. The trailer had a vending window so we boxed it in and put a TV in it.
On to the incident:
Campus Police come by, tell us we cant have trailers on campus, I explain to him that it only applies to pay lots, we are in a free lot. He calls more campus police and they tell us move or our trailer will be towed and we will face arrest. We argue and they tell us its a new rule no trailers can remain on campus after 7am anywhere within the quadrant of streets that are closed off.
We packed up, left the trailer there and went to another tailgate, unfortunately, walking around there were trailers parked all over.
Im not sure if we pissed in this guys cereal one day or what, but Im not sure what we should do. Should we risk going back to our old spot or find a new one. If we find a new one, where to go. We show up very early, 4-5ish, I really dont want to take anyones tailgate spots.
Do the grass lots by TD Village fill up early? I know its a large area with atleast one large tailgate group, but are there others? Any suggestions? We would like to stay South or East of Tiger Stadium.

Call Herb Vincent and tell him your story.
He will call you back and tell you what the deal is.

Get the answer on this policy from LSU (in WRITING). Then, act accordingly. If it is allowed, have the written document to politely show the officer

ur in a tight spot. cops are cops, and 90% of them are dicks...so you best move.
call herb and ask his advice...but i do remember reading no trailers, but i am unaware of if that applies to all campus or just paid lots.
either way, id move and next time, GET IN GOOD with the local authority of ur new spot...like offering them breakfast and lunch is a good start.

Better than that, tell him "frick you, SPEEDY will spring me before kickoff."

Utility Trailers

Motor home owners will be permitted to pull a trailer into a motor home lot to drop off items up until seven hours prior to kickoff. Vehicles are permitted 15 minutes to drop off items in motor home lots. If the owner of a utility vehicle chooses to keep his/her trailer on campus, they will be directed to park it in a non-reserved lot such as a lot on Gourrier Lane.

looks like you have the smoking gun. print that out, have herb vincent sign it, go to ur spot, keep the camera rolling, and wait like a tiger to pounce on the douche bag of a cop.

hell you can have a shite load of TD.com supporters come to ur tailgate (u provide beer for free?)
and have lots of witnesses and cameras rolling and boom, you got urself a youtube video hit and a possible lawsuit. soon, there will be a building on the campus named sippycup hall.

Do that, and take pictures of the hundreds of other trailers on campus. I have seen some trailers 16 feet long on campus. Show him the pic and the policy.
I do not think they should let trailers on campus, however, fair is fair. It is all or none. If the trailer does not work. Get a old car, take the motor out and use it as a trailer. Tow it there the night before. There are a few of these on campus.

make sure your trailer attached to ur car dosent violate this rule by lsu...

The trailer is not attached to a vehicle. Its a 7x14 trailer, which is smaller than most trucks that park on campus.
We park at the end of a lot so the window of the trailer opens up to a large grass area where we tailgate.

sippy cup, it honestly sounds like you got this guy and he dont know it. i would take every precaution to protect myself and prepare for a legal war this sat morning. get ur camcorders ready and make plans for a bail out and a tow truck and more than one camera and witnesses.
this could get really fun. Please keep us posted on what you do and what happens, this could get good.

Was it LSU PD or was it a rent-a-cop? I've heard a bunch of stories from the last game of this rent-a-cop outfit being a lot more agressive in their enforcing of the "rules" than what you usually see on gamedays.

Actually, it was a rent-a-cop first, but the campus police officer was about 10 feet behind him. Then later they brought in 2 more officers.

The good spots fill up quick. I do not think you can bring a trailer here either. Last year they would not let a group in because they had a trailer! But if you do you trailer sounds pretty sweet so be sure to park next to us!!!!!

Update:
Called herb and left a message. I also emailed him.
Im not sure how fast he gets his replies out so I will need a back up plan.
We intend to park our trailer in its usual location but we plan on parking 3 trucks in a seperate location in case we are forced to move....again.
Question is, what location. If we park in any free concrete lot on campus we will likely be taking someones tailgating spot, I wouldnt be comfortable doing that, especially if we end up not even using the alternate location.
Does anyone know if the grass field between Nicholson and TD Village allow trailers? I cant recall anyone (security) being out there at 5am to stop us, but if we are forced to move, it would likely be later in the morning.
For those who do tailgate out there, do you park or put your gear out the night before or very early. Again I would rather not take anyones spot and from what I know, theres no designated parking in that area.
