I'm starting to suffer due to my lack of sleep.

I am hoping someone can give some sort of advice as I am getting worse and worse.
To start off, I have almost no stress in my life. I eat a very healthy diet and I work out or do yoga almost 7 days a week. I get 10,000 steps or more per day.
I do not do drugs (maybe a few times per year), I never drink alcohol.
I started taking magnesium and that seemed to be helping slightly but it is not working anymore.
I went from sleeping 7-8 hours a night (no alarm ever) to getting 3 hours per night.
I can see myself degrading due to the lack of sleep and it's starting to scare me.
Has anyone dealt with this and beat it? I feel like I have read everything I can find online and watched every youtube video.
Prescription medication is out of the question.

Honest response here, but have you given cannabis a try? It works for me.

It really helps me go to sleep, but I still wake up at 3 am like someone has injected coffee into my veins.
Sometimes I can smoke at 3 am (again) and go back to sleep but I am not comfortable smoking everyday. Might be better than not getting enough sleep though.

I would recommend taking 5-10mg of melatonin a try. It might help you regulate your sleep, and you can ween yourself off it once you get back on schedule.

I've tried that as well. Helps me to get to sleep but around 3:00 am I wide awake.

A lot of factors can go into this
What’s your caffeine intake look like? What time do you go to sleep? What time do you actually get tired during the day? What have you done already to try and help with your sleep? When do you workout? What type of workouts do you do? What’s your liquid intake look like (volume as well as how is it taken in throughout the day)? Are you waking up to pee and just can’t go back to sleep? Are you really low stress right now compared to your usual stress? Do you find your mind wandering or racing on different topics? I’m gonna assume you don’t do naps

When did it start and was there any antecedent?

What’s your usual sleep environment like? Do you get overheated at night? How old are you? Have you had covid (or any other change in breathing capacity)?

Go see a doctor to see if you have some kind of nasal problem
Sleep problems just don’t come out of nowhere

Have you tried not using your phone or watching a screen with blue light 30 min before bedtime?

Just accept it and be a segmented sleeper / polyphasic sleeper. It isn't uncommon with age for people to naturally gravitate toward segmented/biphasic/polyphasic sleep patterns and it's only problematic if your job situation makes it difficult to maintain.
Sleeping in a single uninterrupted block of 8+ hours is actually pretty uncommon throughout the world, throughout history, and throughout an individual's life.

I’ve struggled with this as well. I know you’ve said you’ve tried magnesium, but I found that magnesium biglycimate worked much better than any other form. Magnesium citrate was making my insomnia worse. I take about 300mg of the Thorne powdered version right before bed.
You say you have no stress in your life, but stress isn’t always something that feels bad. For me, I have to be careful not to overcommit myself. Last week for example, I had a rehearsal on Sunday until 10pm. Woke up at 5:30 to make my kids’ lunches. Got in a 30 minute run before getting ready for work. Went to work. Had a fun extracurricular assignment from 3-430. Got home and made some dinner. Hung out with the kids before they went to bed. Had sex with the missus. Fell asleep at 9:30. Woke up at 2 and didn’t fall back asleep until 4. Not one moment in those 24ish hours felt “stressful.” But that was too much.
Could you have silent GERD?
Could the cannibis be waking you up?
Hate to hear you’re struggling with this. It’s been a big issue for me as well, but I gotta say that being careful to take it easy during the day and supplementing magnesium biglycimate has pretty much solved it.

Wow. Now that you mention it, the problem started after I had Covid. Now I am going to start digging into that.
Thanks.

Just a few cups of coffee between 5am-8am. Been doing this since college.
I go to sleep somewhere between 9-11 depending on my plans that night. I do notice that going to bed earlier does seem to let me get more hours of sleep in.

If it is cardio, i do it in the morning on an empty stomach, if lifting, an hour or two after lunch.
I do wake up to pee, but it's not a big urge, it's more like something I do because i am already awake.

From a Stanford Neurobiologist take these three supplements:
Magnesium Threonate – Doublewood Magnesium Threonate – 300-400mg
Theanine – Suntheanine – 200-400mg
Apigenin – Swanson Apigenin – 50mg

Listen to him talk about it here: Huberman Labs: Master Your Sleep and be More Alert When Awake
Good luck homie

What’s your diet like ? I was having the same problem recently after changing my diet and started working out. I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t eating enough, even though I was never hungry. I started purposely eating more and everything got better.

Ambien is a sure thing. After a period of great sleep, say a month or two, start using half, then a third, then……none.

If the carcinogenic intake is an issue try switching to edibles. That way you can more accurately dose your intake.

I heard a sleep doctor talking about this recently. He had tried lots of medications and suggestions and none seemed to work until he tried a new technique. It has had a 90% success rate with his patients.
The technique? Laughter. How much do you laugh?
The doctor started prescribing more laughter especially in the evenings. It relaxes the mind and his patients were able to stay asleep.
Stand up comedy.
A funny movie or show.
Funny book.
Etc

Do you spend a lot of time on electronics?
You might consider going spend a week or two camping. It always helps me.
