Anyone else have a toddler constantly sick after starting preschool?

Kid never got sick before. Started preschool in September and literally every single week it’s something new.
Croup one week
Hand foot and mouth
Some other virus I already forgot
Ear infection
Now she’s leaking snot like a spigot and coughing
When does this shite stop?

It's called building up their immune system.

Not anytime soon.
Consider it a workout for their immune system.

Yep. Part of building an immune system. My kids were little Typhoid Marys for the first year.
It clears up.

Yep. Pulled mine out because he was averaging only 3-4 days a month total at preschool because he was sick ALL THE TIME. His pediatrician actually recommended we try to keep him out of preschool for as long as we can. The kid blossomed once he was actually feeling better.
Ears infections
Perpetual cold
Hand foot mouth
RSV

Our youngest is almost 15 now but I remember when she started daycare this happened. She ended up having to get tubes in her ears and it was a lot better.

That is normal.
She’s experiencing a lot of new bugs all at once.

The first one seems to be worse. Your 2nd and 3rd will do better. It will be like this until March 1st. Just set your calendar. Nothing is better than two stomach viruses in a month.

Welcome to kids. Mine usually got over the constant "bugs" after their second year of school. A kid that goes to daycare can enter kindergarten with force field of immunity, but if they have been home every day until their first day of kindergarten then plan on 2 years of catching up. It gets better, but it's hell for a while.

That's just the way immunity works. You'll be fine. Will also teach you how to deal w sickness for the next 15 years.

Just wait until the toenails fall off. Hand Foot and Mouth sucks.

Yes, everyone.

The first year of daycare, he’s had RSV, croup, hand, foot, mouth, a projectile vomiting stomach virus, and other random colds. He’s still thriving and happy, so I chalk it up to building his immune system vs. an actual problem. It’s more annoying because I seem to get everything he brings home.

Yeah despite what others tell you this isn't something you should just sit back and accept. I'd look into other preschools.
My oldest never had this issue.
My niece did. Sick all the frickin time. Told her parents to send her elsewhere. They did, didnt happen to the severity it did before. Think the initial preschool had no cleanliness standards and didnt send kids home despite having RSV and shite.

We got a break last year since a lot of parents were scared to send their kids to daycare. This year feels like every few weeks its a new infection lol
Makes it more interesting with my compromised immune system. RSV gives me lots of fits.

It’s not completely bad. They are now exposing their immune systems to other kids’ germs. It will help them in the long run.
Make sure they get their flintstones vitamins and broccoli. It’s why I’m so big and strong now!

quote:Welcome to preschool. Bunch of kids sticking their fingers in their noses and mouths all day and then sharing the same toys. It'll get better as they stop doing that and get exposed to all these little bugs and their immune system builds up.
