He sounds exactly like Saban, tone and all. If you go listen to his interview on Jordy’s show this morning, you could easily mistaken him for Saban. I like Napier a lot btw and I think he’ll be LSU’s next coach. He wants to “put his players in the best position to have success”. He said he might get recognition but none of it would be there without everyone on his staff and the players. Seems very humble.

Again, I’m not saying he will or won’t be the coach. But that fricker will win national titles somewhere. I’d really like it to be at LSU.

This is my biggest problem with Napier. Chasing the idea that he’s the “next Saban”.

If everything was the same at UL but he spent those years as a WR coach at Clemson instead of Alabama I doubt Napier is even on the list.

I did the same with Herman/Meyer in 2016 and I admit it was a stupid way to think about a coaching candidate honestly.

Comparing dialects is goofy & tells us nothing, but yea it’s uncanny. He was on OTB last year & for the first 2m I was confused how they had gotten Saban for an 8am interview.

At the least though, Napier doesn't come off like a childish psychopath lol. We dodged a bullet in more than one way by not landing Herman

He's modeling everything after Saban and is fully committed in life to the Alabama job.

I don't think that's necessarily reasonable and I suspect he can be compelled to change his mind, but it's his entire focus.

Nah. I hate to listen to Saban. Such a douchebag. Anything anyone asks him is ‘below’ him. Going straight to anger and hostility just shows who he is as a person. Eff that guy.

i was all aboard the herman train a few years ago.

after seeing how he handles himself, kissing players, naming his kid Danger.

like anything similar to him would be dangerous. ffs.

bright guy, great football mind. a bit overboard on the weird shite.

Aren't we going through this now with trying to find the next Joe Brady? Not saying that Napier is the same as Peetz, but damn, go hire the best coach and quit trying to duplicate others success with people just because they have worked under them.

Do those 2 phrases belong in the same universe much less the same paragraph?

It just shows the utter idiocy of all of this.

And for the record, NOTHING about Napier reminds me of Saban.

This mentality is the intellectual equivalent to “talks to like us”

STOP! He’s not Saban and will never be Saban.

Napier is more like Dabo as it relates to coaching and trajectory. He literally got his start under Dabo, and probably got fired by Dabo for being too Dabo. Both see the games from an offensive lense.

LSU needs to bring back it’s dominant defense and marry it with a competent pro spread offense.

What’s funny is our fan base is acting like LSU football is a hot commodity that coaches are breaking down the doors to get an interview with. Y’all don’t be surprised when it comes out that we got turned down by all the major HC targets. Woodward or not, this place is hard to sell. USC in LA has way more appeal than BR. Ultimately, you partially want someone who wants to be here. Doesn’t need to be ALL about money.
