Obviously murder is incredibly bad and wrong. Nobody is disputing that. I'm just saying he already served his time. It's not his fault the courts gave him a light tap on the wrist. Is he supposed to not strive to be a better person and become a productive member of society. Is he supposed to ask if a prison will consider locking him back up for full retribution?

I don't think people are upset at him.

In a era where 10 year old emails, tweets when you were a teenager, and made-up allegations of sexual misconduct can all cause you to lose your job or status the stark contrast seems a little obvious, don't you think.

The issue is not that he went to prison for murder, the issue is that he supposedly kept it a secret for 50 yrs from everyone in his professional life and it just came out and he still kept his job.

Just imagine if Bill Belichick revealed now that he killed someone in cold blood when he was a teenager and, then it was dug up that he also kidnapped someone in his 20s and never told anyone in the NFL about it.

The media shite storm would be gigantic snd he would ultimately resign.

As for Miller, he gets praised by Adam Silver and Nike execs for killing an innocent kid, whose family he never repented to.

It's simply a sickening display.

No he didn't. He wasn't even in prison for a decade. You call that serving time for someone who committed intentional murder? And then kidnapping?

And, to reiterate, he admitted that the victim may not have even been a gang target. Very likely, based on the story, was a case of wrong place, wrong time.

looks like he did his time and was somewhat rehabilitated...isn't that what we want?

Yes.

However, I find it sad that he had made a fortune, and yet still dismisses the family of the deceased in such a cavalier manner.

Adam Silver's quote on Miller, a cold-blooded murderer and convicted kidnapper:

quote:

In a statement to SI, Silver said he was initially “stunned” at the disclosure, having never heard even a “rumor or whisper” of any criminal past. “I then went from stunned to amazed that Larry had managed his long and very successful professional career, operating at the highest levels in our industry, with this secret firmly intact, and was ultimately left with a feeling of sadness that Larry had carried this burden all these years without the support of his many friends and colleagues,” he said.

Silver added that he believes Miller’s experience has given him “a broader perspective from which to judge his life and work…. I think it also made him an especially supportive and understanding friend when it came to dealing with others’ foibles and mistakes.”

He served his time for crimes that happened 40+ years ago why shouldn't he have a job?

I'm not a fan of cancel culture at all but if there were legitimate reasons to cancel someone I would think being a murderer would be one of them, don't you?

Never said anyone should be cancelled. The point basically is to point out the massive hypocrisy and sickness of Nike, the NBA, corporate America, and blue check marks.

The quotes by Silver and the Nike executive are particularly disturbing and disgusting. Whitlock talked about the story this week and how he thinks this is Nike getting out in front of the story because someone was probably about to rat Larry Miller out, or possibly blackmail him.

I think it would be cool to see what Silver would say if Miller murdered or kidnapped one of Silver’s children.

Wow that's some real serious vetting by Nike. Dudes who shop lift couldn't get a job at McDonald's but with his rap sheet, he waltzes into Nike.

I know back then "juvenile" crimes (to be kind) were usually sealed but kidnapping as an adult? Man, he's like Leonardo in Catch Me If You Can. He fooled everyone.

Every leftist in this thread that is knighting for this guy knows this. They just enjoy the double standards they have created. This is the part where they can rub it in your face. Look at the stupid comments like the one above where the idiot says "They want him to be white".

I bet Phil Knight’s woke corporate culture in their policies and procedures does not permit background checks for POC’s looking for executive positions.
