Rattler remains one of the highest-paid athletes of the short-lived NIL era. Opendorse projects his social media earning power alone as nearly $800,000 this year. His NIL marketing is being handled by Chris Cabott, a high-profile NFL agent with mega-agency Steinberg Sports in Southern California. Cabott counts Patrick Mahomes among his highest-profile clients.
Rattler has also been given two vehicles by Fowler Automotive Group, one of the largest car dealers in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area. He will keep those cars despite the widely held belief Williams will start Saturday's game against TCU.

And this is how we know NIL will quickly be reigned in by the market.

Will be interesting to see where things go with that kid that went to OSU a year early to cash in.
Highly rated QB recruits ending up complete busts is very common. Like, the majority are busts.

Ewers, barring injury, will be a good one. I’m not worried about him.

His sponsors got hosed. I knew someone would set the stage for NIL flops. Rattler is the first domino.

As one of the most-celebrated and best-compensated players in the early days of NIL, this turn of events raised an inevitable question: What relationship is there between play on the field and NIL earning power? At least in the early days of NIL, the answer: not much.

This is an interesting story," said Blake Lawrence, CEO of technology-based social media giant Opendorse. "Spencer Rattler is the most marketable college football player. There is no doubt. The fact that this is a story tells you how marketable he is."

Did he have any clause about if he left the school?
Posted on 10/14/21 at 6:53 pm to McCaigBro69
College sports is in enough trouble already. NIL is gonna kill it.

It’s because of shite like this that companies will become more disciplined in their NIL spending.
I thought it would take a few years. Turns out, it took 6 months.

That's not the CEO talking.
This is obviously not a positive for them, however the impact isn't as drastic as the in game impact of losing the starting job.

I am genuinely curious how much the average D1 athlete (avg of ALL of them across all sports) will make through NIL. I would wager it is very small, which makes me laugh considering how people like Jay Bilas made it seem like the old way was modern day slavery and every athlete was being denied millions of dollars.

Very weird…first year of the NIL and two heavy Heisman favorites have looked like absolute shite.
