Just be aware that cell coverage and internet does not get to some remote areas easily. Plus, in the winter you can get trapped if you are up on the mountain and not near the main road.

I get where you are coming from regarding the remoteness of it. I agree with you on that aspect of it. Sorry, I was thinking 20-50 year old would like living in North Carolina but probably closer to a mid to big city. I guess my point was that the state of NC would be great to live in at any age.

Check around Huntsville.

That's pretty much the entire state of Alabama once you get out of the bigger cities and town.

I know you've talked about looking for a vacation property in Coeur d'Alene. Did you happen to drive much outside of town when you were there?

But ain’t nothing wrong with a good ol Baw….. wife didn’t get the ‘resort town vacation home vibe’ that she was thinking like in Park City. For the time being we are keeping that place in Utah

No need to buy a remote piece of land because by 40 years from now they’re going to put us in camps out there.

Western NC is a beautiful area. You won’t regret it.

hope it's a good place to retire because we've already bought a piece of land up there. No timetable to start building, but the deal was too good to pass up and close to where we wanted to be.
How can you afford a second property when you could have used that money to help better black lives?

Woke up in Asheville this morning, in Perdido now.
Those two places would work for me through my exit date.
So, affirmative on the WNC land purchase.

West Virginia would be a great retirement haven if they structured their taxes for retirees. Tons of beautiful land cheap.

Just bought a fixer upper there. Let me know if you need any pointers

10.14 acres for 59,000.00 w/ road frontage and 400 feet of creek running through
Only problem, there's an almost 400 foot change in elevation from the road to the back of the property.
