Older adults without heart disease shouldn't take daily low-dose aspirin to prevent a first heart attack or stroke, an influential health guidelines group said in preliminary updated advice released Tuesday.

Bleeding risks for adults in their 60s and up who haven't had a heart attack or stroke outweigh any potential benefits from aspirin, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force said in its draft guidance.

This is showing up as "breaking news" on Yahoo right now.

Just a week ago it was revealed daily low dose Aspirin may prevent Covid infection

I am sure the timing is just a coincidence

so the studies showing a baby aspirin a day is completely safe & harmless is suddenly dangerous?

Every aspirin study ive seen only showed like a 1-2% benefit in “healthy” people.

Slightly more benefit if you have a prior history of stroke or MI

The argument was that it is cheap and safe so its worth it even for that 1-2%.

Plavix is only slightly better

I’m betting that influential group has pretty big ties to Covid guidelines

These damn studies are useless. Give them 2 months, they’ll be back to saying aspirin helps prevent heart attacks.

The study was probably funded by a Pharmaceutical company that’s trying to push a new heart treatment drug.

here's the chairperson in charge of this group:

U.S. Preventive Services Task Force

quote:

Dr. Davidson received a B.A. in psychology from Queen's University in Canada. She earned her M.A.Sc. in industrial and organizational psychology and her Ph.D. in clinical health psychology from the University of Waterloo in Canada. She completed her health and child clinical psychology internship at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital.

So let's put her in charge of a task for named "US Preventive Services"

Let's pick a couple of the other '15 volunteers' out:

quote:

She is the associate director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s KL2 Scholars’ Program and director of the Career Education and Enhancement for Health Career Research Diversity Program at the University of Pittsburgh.

quote:

Her research has contributed new knowledge on the relationship of perinatal risk factors for maternal obesity and associated racial disparities

quote:

Her research has been funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), National Institutes of Health, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Point of OP seemed to be that any alternate or preventative treatment for Covid is being suppressed to avoid a premature end to the plandemic.
