Had it on my wishlist forever, finally pulled the trigger. Steam sales will be the death of me.

Game has great reviews. Those of you who played, what did you think?

Got bored with it after a few hours. I think I am just tired of the Ubi Soft Formula.

I enjoyed it more than I have most of them. I know what I am going to get when I play an Ubisoft AC game, but I can get past that easily.

thought the story was really good and was slightly challenging. only thing I hated were the faction battles. I just ignored them because they are meaningless. Started the DLC a while back but never finished.

Honest question, what is the Ubi Soft Formula?

Honestly my favorite assassins creed game even tho it really isn’t one. Multiple endings. Multiple playstyles. I loved it.

Didn’t enjoy it much at all. After the first few hand holding missions there was just no direction. All it felt like was base building and raiding. If you’re into that, it’s for you. But I’ve got too many games right now to dive that deep into this one. And it didn’t feel all that rewarding to keep going.

Wait, I’m dumb, the above is all about Valhalla not Odyssey, didn’t play that one

I enjoyed the hell out of it at first, really like the setting and the combat. But it was just too repetitive for me and I got burnt out on it

I have Origins but I haven’t played it much. I liked the Ezio trilogy and Black Flag but can’t get into this for some reason.

Climb up something to "unlock" the map of an area, do minor fetch quests, chase people around, conquer some sort of base, be bullet spongy, and half the map unlocks after about 40% of the way through the story.

I got it dirt cheap at some point. It may have been free from the psn monthly thing, idk. I just saw it in my library randomly one day and forgot when I got it.

I fired it up recently and had a blast playing it. I'm not a hardcore gamer like some on this board, but I enjoyed the game. I liked the story and the dlc has been fun.

My only big gripes are about the armor and upgrading. I don't enjoy that part and wish I could just have an easy button instead of choosing between the hundreds I collected and then having to sell them all or store the ones I can't get rid of on the ship.

I will tell you that you should get all of the fast travel points as you pass them. After I completed most of the story quests, I just went around and set waypoints and let the horse bring me to them so I could fast travel to pretty much everywhere on the map.

Otherwise I had fun and if you get it cheap, it's a steal. I mostly enjoy AC games, but haven't fully played through one like this since AC III.

Fantastic game. If this is what people mean by the "Ubisoft Formula," then give me more of that.

Assassins Creed and Far Cry are the same game over and over with new skin and new story.

Some people can't get enough which is fine. I am bored with both.

Never played a Far Cry, but this is absolutely not true for Assassin's Creed.

I played Origins enjoyed it, liked the Egytpian mythology to it. Is Odyssey the same? I heard it was a bigger grind fest.

Odyssey leans more into the RPG elements, dialogue choices, actual gear upgrades and not just cosmetics. I want to say the one problem I kept running into with Origins was a level wall, where I'd be ready to start the next quest in the main story but I was 2 or 3 levels below the recommended and in Origins that's almost impossible. I think that has happened a few times in Odyssey but not nearly as much.

Best way I can compare them to each other is the story and characters in Origins are better, but Odyssey is a more complete game. I actually like the sailing in Odyssey and the game is flat out gorgeous. It could be a grind fest if you wanted but I don't think it's necessary. There's a ton to do in the world but you can pick and choose. I finished the First Blade DLC and just started Atlantis. Happy with all of it so far.

I enjoyed Origins up to a point. I tend to uncover the whole map and do all quests and max everything out. It was just too much. I still did all of those things but at a certain point I was bored. Odyssey is even bigger. I had no interest when it came out.

I bought it on sale for $15 a while back and still haven't loaded it up. I'll play it one day and I bet I have a solid good time for the first 75% of the game.
