America is NOT the government (but I certainly understand why you think that way).

And, yes, I would like to see thw social safety hammock disappear

Social Security and Medicare are funded separately via "continuing appropriations" and therefore aren't affected if things shut down.

That's not the only 2 choices liar. The government still largely operates during a shutdown. It's one of the most inconsequential overblown things there are.
