Rack the weight. Breathe. Do the last rep.

I do the same thing.

I’d rather not hurt myself trying to gut out a rep I just don’t have in me

My days of ego lifting are long gone

I’ve done that with things like curls before, but I just get so disgusted with myself when it’s some kind of press, that I just get pissed and tell myself that I will not allow it next time.

Everyone has good days and bad days. I think the main thing I’ve learned is to recognize when I’m having a good day early on and really trying to push myself on those days. There’s days where I’m just off for whatever reason and I just do what I need to do to stay on track and try to do better the next time. There’s so many things that can impact your lifts that it’s best to not get bogged down and just do what you need to do and focus on being better the next time.

Definitely this^

Get it while it’s good and let it go when it’s not. It’ll even out. Nothing to stress over.

As complex is a body is, it makes sense that performance factors would have plenty of variance day to day. And when you’re progressing at a modest, steady pace as a more well-trained lifter, the increase in your mean strength levels from a week ago can easily be outweighed by a dip in your day-to-day strength levels.

So that doesn’t mean that you aren’t stronger on average than you were last week; you could simply be performing at a lower % of your peak performance than you were when you hit that lift last week. And knowing that makes it much less disheartening IMO.

That's usually when I change things up. Different set/rep/weight combo or a different exercise.

I'll take it you haven't been lifting long at all. This can happen week to week. You are not programmed as a human to operated the same everyday. So many factors go in to it besides the obvious nutrition and rest. Could be stress, what you did the day before, something simple as loss of focus, or not planted correctly.

It's ridiculous to think that you gonna duplicate every workout rep for rep.

All of this! Some days are better than others just like everyday life. I get pissed for the moment but try to kill it next time. Like someone said below me it will even out.

Doesn't bother me any. I just go as many as I can get that day and not worry about it.

As long as you don't use it as an excuse. Progress isn't always linear but it should mostly upward. If you're continually missing your goals something is off.
