Sounds like deflection.
So saying that I feel no compulsion to answer your question, but nevertheless answering it in full regardless is a deflection? Sure, why not

Exactly. This is more of a baller move than anything. Signals we will defend the Pacific.
By cutting an ally out of defense decisions? Do you really believe France is so pissed off about the loss of the contract? I mean they are, but they’ve lost out on defense contracts previously, and this has not happened.

If Trump had done this, the PT would be living it up, talking about The Art of the Deal, how great it is to have a president who is America First, and asking everyone if they are tired of winning yet.
It really depends upon the context because I seriously doubt Trump would have given Australia, even if they are a FVEY, our nuclear secrets. And besides, Biden was elected to rebuild rapport with the United Nations after four years of Trumpianism. Instead, he's managed to piss off our closest ally (Britain) in regards to how we handled the withdrawal from Afghanistan and our oldest ally (France) in regards to this new agreement between ourselves, the British and Australia.

On the flip side, the partian national media and international Euro media would be talking about how Trump has badly damaged our NATO pact blah blah blah
Also agree 100%.
I used to love following politics. Even though it was treated like a sport, it was still interesting, because there was some modicum of honesty and integrity. People could admit when their "team" fricked some shite up, or when the other "team" go something right.
Now? Political conversations sound much closer to religious conversations (not literally including religion; that's a separate issue). Our side being 100% right and the other side being 100% evil is now a tenet of faith, so reasonable conversation is impossible. Everything, everything is spin.

It's a fricking recall of the ambassador. Stop parsing everything. They recalled the US and Australian ambassadors and bad mouthed the English. You do know that Australia is an independent country now. It's not surprising they didn't recall their ambassador to England. It was all around a shitty move to do to your allies just for a buck.

So how did MSM going to blame it on Trump? You know its coming...

Either that or we will lie and scheme to get that money and by we, let me be perfectly clear, I mean the Biden administration. I don't know.
Democrats love China. You can bet good money that whatever they are doing is NOT in the interest of “protecting” anything or anyone from China.

While I agree 100%, this isn't a full recall. This is a "come home so we can talk without anyone else listening to us" recall. I think the fact that they didn't recall their ambassador to England is telling, especially being this was the explanation: "But he said France had seen "no need" to recall its ambassador to the UK, as he accused the country of "constant opportunism"."
This is just the French PM doing what he can to satisfy the outrage of the French military-industrial complex over losing the contract.
They haven’t severed diplomatic relations with the US. They are just signaling their displeasure.
We’ll make it up to them at some point. Maybe we’ll lower tariffs on Champaign and Brie?

I'll ask one of my politico-type friends at some point to check to see if my name pops as a "voter" in that election

I am not a Biden apologist by any means, but who gives a crap about France doing this? They are a pseudo ally, at best, to keep tourist dollars from US coming in and to remain part of NATO.

If I was throwing a dart, I'd go with "Trump let China get too powerful on his watch, so now Biden is having to make moves in the Pacific to try to keep them in check."

Jesus Christ stop making our side look bad. We’d be pumped if Trump did this to them.
frick the French. They are not our friends. Simply a colleague.
