i preferred otis and ruby together. I don't think otis treated ruby poorly, he just didn't feel the same way yet.

This season has been waaaaaaaay better than season 2.
And yeah, they did a good job developing that relationship to the point that I was upset when Otis didn’t reciprocate Ruby’s feelings.

what year is this show set in? or is that part of the world just way behind other parts? wired home phones?

It's a descent season, but the ultimate bait and switch show, first two or three episodes of season one nudity, then every season and episode after that pretty much nothing. Either don't show it at all or continue with the starting format.

Just finished season three, couple of thoughts:
-To echo what many have said, the writers have done suuuuch a good job with so many characters, Ruby being the most obvious. She had such a great arch, and I was genuinely getting a bit misty when she said she loved Otis and you could tell he wasn’t gonna say it back, just brutal. Even Isaac comes off as the Antichrist like that prick from the OC, but then he owns up to the deleted voicemail (which we all would have deleted) and borderline becomes someone you root for.
-Whoever did the casting is both awesome at their job and a total fricking hornball. We all saw Aeme’s tits in the first episode, and they seemed unbeatable until the beauties that Ruby is smuggling around. Holy shite at those things. Also, they show it sparingly, but Ruby’s Indian friend looks like she has an absolute elite dumbtruck on her.
And even beyond the hotties, Maeve and Eric are absolute rockstars. Never seen either of those actors before, but they’re both gonna do big big things. Adam and his dad also look so similar and have such similar facial mannerisms that I’d legit believe they were related in real life.
-I thought the Hope gal was a bit to cartoonish of an antagonist. I get some teachers are overly strict while others are lax, but she was so absurd it was almost laughable. The name and shame scene was full-on cringe.
Overall the show is so well-done IMO, love it.

Seems like as these actresses get more famous, they are less likely to go topless.

Although some of her techniques were over-the-top, it's clear that she was under immense pressure to get the kids in line or the school may not survive. And they tried to generate sympathy with her fertility issues—but it didn't work for me, she still sucks. It seems to me that she could have been a little more honest with the kids about what was at stake and ask them to cooperate, instead of ruling with an iron fist.

It is set now, but the show creators said that they purposefully give it some throwback style characteristics as an homage to the John Hughes 80s movies.
Pretty much everyone is team Ruby now.
They should change it up and make that the end game and can the Maeve/Otis relationship.

I think the main problem with the show is that it legitimately thinks the way the kids act at the end of season 3 is healthy and preferable way to act lol.
Like any type of class or modesty is somehow bad.
There is literally a couple on there that just is constantly and publicly having sex at all times.
