What made Brady great was his control, knowledge and adjustments of the check with me, (Marshall's touchdown in NC game was a check based off coverage, 3 and 17 was a check where play stayed the same based off pressure they showed). This culture of check with me was Brady wanting to make sure the play was perfect, he was great at that. Steve had final say, but it was Brady making the calls. In contrast, Mangus obviously isn't providing Jake with the same efficient and correct adjustments. Mangus's wants his role to be a reflection of Brady in 2019. That's why he was brought here. To provide Jake with the deep understanding of the concepts called and the adjustments Brady has taught him. You have to realize, Jake never ran this offense before. He was running an NFL offense with Brady and only some of these concepts and terminology. That is why the run game is simple and lacking, Mangus thought the 2019 run game would be sufficient and last week we were finally installing new run concepts (blows my mind we never ran a pin and pull or gap scheme not once against UCLA because they "were not installed"). Mangus doesn't have an expertise in any other offensive concepts and if he does it's not on the level of a passing game coordinator at an elite level. This is why Jake is now putting in his run concepts you saw Saturday and hopefully now a hurry up. and yes this is on O for bringing in someone who was never a position coach or coordinator to be the backbone of the offense. No adjustments were made during the UCLA game because it was Mangus's first time ever doing that and he obviously struggled and got out coached. Shame we have a guy learning this on the job at LSU.

Brady was great because of the things he did before the games. Teaching the WR how to read a Defense so that they know how deep or shallow or how far out or in they needed to go. Or his summer of 10000 catches that we actually went through.

It helps to have what amounted to a professional quarterback that watched about the same amount of film as the coaches and was like a coach himself. Not to mention a quarterback with elite accuracy and awareness.

Davis is great. Just give me some time and some actual D1 talent.

Who on the staff is good? It is amazing what is going on. The level of ineptitude on the staff is stunning. It all starts at the top with Eddie.

What made Brady great was a QB executing a scheme through reads and analysis and then actually making the plays work. Burrow, Brady, and Ensminger were all on the same page.

None of us have any idea right now what is being said on those headsets versus what is happening on the field. That is why it is my opinion that the problem is QB play. Compare to basketball, if the point guard sucks then everybody plays worse. Problem now is thst I could not tell you if the answer is give MJ more time, try Nuss, or wait for Brennan.

I do agree with you here. Max is a major problem. Tough and great kid but there is a reason he wasn't highly recruited out of high school. He has very average actual throwing ability. I think this is also why we have a lot of drops. It's an odd ball coming out left handed, wobbly and not accurate.

Get this, high school QB's are coming out of school running the spread and being more prepared now for college then ever, Max ran majority under center in high school and didn't throw very much. Sure he threw more his senior year, especially to his brother but nothing with this spread concepts at a high level.

My key is let him run a little more and go fast. That will help with the line play and help him get easier reads and throws.

I was trying not be too specific on just Max but I agree. His play level has not been good enough to keep the offense on the field. At some point we have to see if someone else does better.

Who gives a damn about stars! We have a ton of 4 and 5 star recruits right now that look as if they're 1 star. Recruiting, like team rankings, is often wrong and overrated. Pay more attention to player development and "coaching up" by the coaches.

Well.... if he's a bright individual (which I'm sure he is) he will learn and get better and LSU will benefit. I would much rather lose 1st game of season b/c of lack of experience than later in season. Tigers will get better every week. Just geaux with it and stop complaining. What's done is done. Time to get better and move on.

I too, wonder how much of an issue this is.
I know it’s a shitty excuse, if it hits your hands you should catch it, all that… but I hate to pretend it’s not a real thing.
Going from Myles to Max to Nuss back and forth can’t be great.
Even chase said it was weird trying to look in the nfl ball with no stripes.
They need to address these smaller details in practice more so they don’t show in the game. Whether it’s more reps from both qbs or whatever.. I wonder if they could adjust the jugs machine so that the ball spins the opposite way?
Whatever the issue is, Brady would have had it fixed in the off-season.
