I watched "Ernest Goes to Camp" all the time as a kid and it was the best Ernest movie and I want to show it to my kids, but for some reason, its the only Ernest movie I cant find widely available. Ernest goes to the Army, Africa, Jail, Scared Stupid, Saves Chirstmas....all readily available, but for some reason "Goes to Camp" can only be ordered on DVD....what gives?

Any others that you find difficult to find?

Without looking up the details I think it's called Going All the Way with Ben Affleck and Jeremy Davies. Saw it once on cable years ago, liked it, never seen it on TV again

I had a really hard time finding Whiplash for a while. I hadn't seen it but knew it was held in extremely high regard.

I finally saw it pop up on Starz earlier this year. Watched it immediately and loved it.

Search for the Nile

Miniseries

Produced by BBC, won awards, highly acclaimed.

No idea why its never been released beyond bootleg VHS home video transfers on YouTube. Its on PAL and that took 40 years. Still can't get it in US format.

To sum up what I mean, here's an IMDB review from a another bewildered fan:

The Search for the Nile and have been unable to find this series in spite of the fact that it won the Golden Globe Award best TV special 1973. I have checked all university video libraries, the Smithsonian library, public libraries, all video sources even the BBC. No one has this series. WHY Why has it been pulled from all sources?

The answer? Might come from this review.
quote:

The Search for the Nile was a very ambitious project for the BBC in 1971. It features a good deal of location shooting and the results are certainly impressive. documentary-style historical drama about African exploration is in its own way an astonishing television achievement.

Even more astonishing is that it’s not an exercise in political correctness. It deals with colonialism in a complex and nuanced way. It also deals with slavery but the slavers encountered here are Arabs and Africans.

Finding the source of the Nile is one of the greatest exploration achievements but since it happened during Colonial times, stories of history are banned.

True Lies. Its weird that such a popular movie is not available to stream or purchase anywhere it seems but in the used DVD or bootleg market.

A lot of the Hammer classics were hard to find until relatively recently.

It's a must watch on Thanksgiving for me and it's been impossible to find for a while now. You can't even buy it digitally anywhere. If you want to watch it you gotta stream off an illegal site which is crazy b/c it used to be on the movies channels all the time.
