The list is not too big.
Bobby Bowden at Florida State
Ara Parseghian at Notre Dame
Duffy Daugherty at Michigan State
Bear Bryant at Alabama (he did admit he went too far with the Junction Boys later in his career and he worked to integrate Alabama)
Paul Dietzel at LSU

You don't know any of those people personally.
Especially the old guys when we had no coverage of them except pitty-pat white glove treatment by the fawning press...especially guys like Ara and Bryant in the 60's. And Bryant wasn't exactly MLK or Bobby Kennedy. He was a roadblock for black players, that we know.

Bud Wilkinson
Spurrier
Johnson
Devine
I’m not sure about what Devaney is classified as he was a hardass but never heard anything off field

When compared to his peers of today you may be able to make that argument, but I don't know how he stands up against Ara or Duffy. Duffy and Bear were good friends by the way.

Johnny Majors was a pretty good guy. Just a drunk.
Saw him pull a flask out of his track suit on a Wednesday at 9 am at a Shoneys in Knoxville one time. He had to be in his eighties by then.

Wilkinson and Devine belong in the conversation but not Spurrier or Johnson.

I e never heard anything bad about Johnson and my time around him and Switzer was good the players loved them both
But Lacewell has an axe to grind with both Johnson and Switzer

Saban gets shite on because this is an LSU board and he went to Alabama. Had he gone to Syracuse or some shite school that doesn't play LSU or recruit against them he would be fine. Dude has never had a controversy even though you could argue Candy Edward's, his former players love him, and he wins

Yeah, but Barry left under a cloud of bad behavior and JJ continued the ways of the U.

Fairbanks left it worse than Barry. But Barry wasn’t going to stop building the monster
Barry is a saint compared to McCartney

What's wrong with Saban except that he kicks butt.
