Is Red Cross giving money? I remember getting a few hundred after Katrina

that would be where you upload under "miscellaneous"
Except I dont have a miscellaneous.
I could just try to upload receipts like everyone is doing for the generator, but I dont have all the receipts due to "cash only" and all that.

FEMA website is telling me Pending. I had minor housing damage so they want to inspect.

Now, should someone go buy a generator this week with the hope of it being reimbursed? That could be risky.
That's what I'm wondering. I still don't have power but I need to go back home for work related purposes. I want to pickup a generator on the way home but will I get reimbursed? It says it can be purchased up to the 25th.

I guess if you're ever going to get one now is the best time. There's a chance you'll get $800 for it. May not get that chance again

Anyone hearing that they have to do something with their HO insurance first?

So I had just miscellaneous assistance
Then one day I had
- miscellaneous: pending
- rental assistance: pending
- housing assistance: pending
Just refreshed and now
- miscellaneous: $500
- rental assistance: $1,061
- housing assistance: pending
I honestly have no idea why I got what I got or why I have rental and housing assistance as I thing
It is what it is

did you initially get a rejection letter and then have this just pop up? A friend of mine is going through this process after being displaced and only has gotten a rejection letter and no other correspondence

Does anyone know what the actual criteria is for anything? They seem to be all over the map.
Denied for everything;
$500 Misc - Denied
$800 Genny - Denied (no medical verification)
Took a few grand worth of damage, but not enough to meet the deductible, and we chose not to leave after roof damage.

I have not
I applied several days ago and miscellaneous said pending. Then suddenly rental assistance popped up too as pending. Then today the totals were filled in with what I’m getting. And housing assistance popped up out of no where and says pending as well.
No rejections or anything to appeal. Just populated as such.

Sorry to hear about denial. I think you should file an appeal
Posted on 9/9/21 at 3:40 pm to Delacroix22
Can I ask if you own your home and if there was damage?
Sorry to be nosy, trying to see if there's any pattern to the denials and approvals because reading through the comments but realizing people could likely be in many different circumstances so one outcome may not be relevant to another.

I own my home but I have insurance so I got denied. I had damage but it wasn't enough to meet my deductible so I didn't file an insurance claim. I called and after a lengthy wait spoke to a representative who said I had to file an appeal and show that the damage I sustained and paid to have repaired didn't meet my insurance deductible which is where I'm at now.
I didn't get a magical $500 miscellaneous even though I checked the box saying that I had an emergency need for gas, food, etc.

I hope this helps all of you. I have been on phone with FEMA for several days. I’m in St. Tammany parish and applied early when miscellaneous and critical needs were not an option. I was denied on household damage and have insurance. After being told by 6 different people that were completely inconsistent with what we qualify for I was told by a FEMA supervisor what was going on. If you originally applied and got denied you will get the 500 in the next 2 weeks but maybe a bit longer. The computer automatically corrects itself. It doesn’t matter if you have insurance or not. This is for an parish that is deemed a disaster . Also you may get an additional 1,000 for “renting”. You may see separate deposits for 500 and 1,000 or all together. She stated they are working on 30 different diasters at the moment and there having technical issues with uploads such as generator reimbursement . The best way to get reimbursed for generator is to mail in and she gave me every detail to get approved when mailed in. Faxes and uploads are not working well. Please don’t give up ! I finally found a person that knew what they were doing. I wanted you to all know what I was told. You can’t reapply, you just have to wait for computer to update your parish.

You don’t have to have medical necessity. That was for Katrina. This was updated yesterday by FEMA but fema workers are reading the updates they get daily and make up stuff. That is coming directly from a supervisor from fema .

Can you pass along instructions for mailing the receipts?
