What is your fear/concern level when you feel a little tickle in your throat?

Or sniffle from your nose?

Started feeling a little scratchy in the throat and decided I better get a COVID test. ( ) So I got it and it came back negative.

So I thought, it must be allergies. I checked pollen.com and sure enough the ragweed pollen count increased from low (4.5) yesterday to medium (5.8) today and tomorrow's forecast calls for medium (6.2). The scale is 0 to 12. It's that time of the year and with no rain the pollen counts will get high.

There’s a very particular pick in the back if my throat that damned near 100% foretells of some kind of upper respiratory illness for me, whether cold, sinus infection, whatever. My level of concern is likewise nearly 100% predicated on what I have coming up. Just office bullshite? Whatever. Trial or vacation? I’m pretty pissed.

Hork it up as hard as I can, spit, and then disinfect with bourbon just to be sure. Repeat step 3 until no more feelings.

Within a week or two of being in close contact with someone who later tested positive? Mildly. Really nothing more than a fleeting thought until I remember it is probably just allergies, or a result of wearing a mask at work. Real concern doesn’t happen until I see a fever. I’ve had 3 or 4 close calls like this but never had a fever and to my knowledge have not yet been infected.

I have severe allergies too. I find if I take my Claritin with a double martini it seems to kick the reaction.

I had the same feeling earlier in the week and told my wife I may have it and the she reminded me “No dumbass, your allergies always act up right before Labor Day and you always bitch about how hot the steroid shot makes you feel when we are at the beach Labor Day weekend”
