I have a group of 8 adults and 6 kids and we can’t decide to stay in Durango or Pagosa Thanksgiving week. Which town offers better bars/restaurants and other attractions? We are planning to take the kids on the train in Durango. Thanks in advance.

Durango. It's pretty much winter by then, so go where there is stuff.

Booked a house just north of Purgatory, booked the Polar Express. What would be y’all’s picks for restaurants/bars to have a good meal and drinks? We will have children with us, what would be some other activities we could do with them?

We were in Durango this summer for one night and had dinner in the Diamond Belle Saloon which is part of the Strater Hotel in the historic district. It’s a few blocks from the train station.

The waitresses dress in historic costumes and they have a rag time piano player that’s entertaining. The food was ok.

We went into the hotel & the night clerk showed us some secrets about the lobby.

If you like all things honey check out Honeyville which is north of town about 12 miles. They have a distillery. The kids might like the Durango Hot Springs; people were swimming/soaking there in the summer but it may be too cold in Nov. - or it may be just right. It’s on the way to Honeyville.

I searched past posts and came across yours. I’ve already looked up the Belle. I think they’ll like that. Thanks, and I enjoyed reading your post.

Cool. Thanks
I’ve got a video of the piano player playing The Entertainer from The Sting but haven’t figured out how to post it w/ sound. IDK, this site may not support that.

Best restaurants are Seasons, mahagony grille, Mutus and probably steam works… all downtown… all very walkable from each other…

Serious Texas BBQ is a cool spot north of town as you head into the valley.

Ernie’s… a cool indoor outdoor bar with food trucks that is right in the heart of Main Street.

Sous Ear near Purg is a great restaurant with killer views

James Ranch is near honeyville in the north valley and is a great place to eat outside
