All the cool old shite is in Turkey

Gobekli Tepe isn't mentioned in old books, but that's because it was abandoned even thousands of years before books were invented.

12,000 years or so. That predates the civilization of Sumer, considered by most to be the first real 'Civilization' by 6000 freaking years. Pretty much right after the last ice age. It also looks like they filled it in themselves before abandoning it as if to preserve it.

Gobekli Tepe
I think we're all familiar with it.

They buried and rebuilt new enclosures again and again for a span of 1800 years. It's also important to note that the technology of the site gets worse and the structures get more primitive over time, not the opposite. I don't think anyone really knows what that means, and I don't think they ever will. They've only uncovered about 20% of it.

its been 2021 years since we started living in the modern era, but humans existed in permanent settlements for something like 9500 years prior to that. Really a mind frick to think about how long the ancient era lasted and how much human history we pass over by assuming its the year 2021
