Louisiana hospitalizations at 2,720. This is 650 (+31%) more hospitalizations than the Jan 2021 max of 2,069.

They report data points, not the data trends that actually tell an unbiased story in of itself.
I can forgive that if they at least harped on meaningful data points - like hospitalization. Daily C19 cases aren't particularly useful if they aren't exactly as correlated with serious illness, hospitalizations, or death as it has been for the past year.

It's not good.
But the most useful information (IMO) is a rolling 7 day average in hospitalization numbers. We need to see the trend line to predict future resource needs.

Okay, let's "harp" on that for a moment.
In my organization we are sitting at almost twice the hospitalization numbers we were at the height of the breakout last year. Making it worse it that we are now out of vents.
We are no longer scheduling elective surgeries for those who had to hold off and now their conditions are much worse.
We are consuming units which aren't geared for COVID, thus depriving other medical necessities. One being an 85 year old diabetic who is near and dear to me who was sent home with a catheter on Saturday for a bleeder where normally he would still be in-house today.
