To all current members, past members, and guests of Belle Terre Country Club:
We would like to announce that we are in the process of re-shaping and replanting our greens. The process is needed to ensure consistency at our facility. We are going to get this done as quickly as possible before the cool season arrives. This project will start this Wednesday, Aug. 4 with the stripping of the existing grass on greens and collars. We have decided to plant Paspalum on our greens because of the water quality that is inherently a part of our irrigation system. We will be the only club in the area with this variety. We’ve done enough research to make the proper decision on our playing surfaces. The biggest problem we have faced in the past has been inconsistency. We feel confident this problem will be resolved with this solution.
Process:
Stripping of the greens
Adding soil amendments to ensure quicken growth
Reshaping some of the older designs on the greens
Improving tee boxes
Addressing cart paths
The course will be open as a Par 67 Executive course during the renovation with temporary greens. The hours of operation will be from 9am-3pm. The range will also be open

That’s supposed to be awesome stuff. I think Kiva Dunes has paspalum on the greens.

I thought they had closed last year to redo the greens? I know when I played after they reopened the greens looked good but played about 5 weeks ago and they had went back to looking bad.

They did some repairs last year but it didn’t take. Hope this works because it could be a good course again. In the 70’s it was real good.

I grew up playing out there, so glad to hear they're doing this. It really is a fun course when it's in good shape. Unfortunately, it hasn't been in good shape since the early 90s.

I used to play out there a lot. I really like the layout, so if it’s in good shape I’ll gladly give it another chance. I’ve always thought riverlands and Belle terre should come up with a way to comhine resources. Two average to below average courses in that tiny area makes no sense.

Oak Harbor has paspalum, it’s been awhile since I’ve played it but I remember the greens having plenty of grass, but really dense and slow.

I just played Oak Harbor last weekend. Greens were decent, but as you described...dense with a lot of grass and not very quick.

Wow that is a lot of work. What is the completion date to reopen the course. There is a course in Lafayette that has Dynasty Paspalum on greens, is this what is going to be planted?

Yeah, it does seem like a good bit of work. And they've missed the growing season. My course is being renovated right now, and we were told that grass needed to be planted by middle of August at the latest. Maybe paspalum is different from bermuda, but that's a little concerning.

Abbeville golf course has paspalum greens. I haven’t played it, but others who have played have given good reviews. Slow, but healthy and consistent.

Galveston Country Club installed that a few years back. The ball sits up really nice and can handle some saltwater.
Extremely thick thatch. Nothing will invade it.
I also like Mini Verde grass.
