Baker Mayfield went 6 and 0 to start the season as a true freshman walk on. We certainly can't count on this since it's the only time a true freshman walk on started the season opener for a power 5 school, much less won the 6 games he played

This annoys me. One guy did it so everyone that had that exact same situation will do it.

No, dippy. When someone says, “If a walkon true freshman is our QB we are in trouble”, another only has to come up with one example to disprove the point. That’s what is happening here.

Now, if the poster had written, “If a walkon true freshmen is our QB we are PROBABLY in trouble, and if the comments were the same, then you would have a point.

If course I don't think O'Dowd is Joe Burrow. However Burrow wasn't even offered a scholarship at lowly Nebraska even though he wanted to go there. Yes he was Mr football but had very few if any big time offers.

He had one from friggin Ohio State!

O'Dowd Junior Year Highlights
His junior year highlights at Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, FL. His high school only played two games his senior year. Odd throwing motion/angle reminds me a little of Rivers. I hope we blow out someone enough he gets to make a handoff or two, though it's unlikely he sees the field.

Interview with Recruiting News Guru
Recruiting News Guru called him a 3* QB. O'Dowd says he had interest from ULL, Indiana, Pitt, Rutgers and Ivy League schools.

Thank you for the links. Random search finds he is 6'2" 204 lbs, some good running and throwing on the run highlights. I don't see anything out of the norm with his throwing motion, looks good, high release point, strong arm. His twitter states he led them to their first two district titles in 18 years, the interest from the schools you mention and multiple small school offers.

I give you Ladamion Thompson. Coming out of high school he had one decent offer, TAU. We all know the rest of the story.

Who the hell is Ladamion Thompson?

Matt O'Dowd graduated from the same highschool as mass shooter Nicolas Cruz attended I believe. Its possible Matt knew some of the victims.
