Conventional Vaccines for Covid

Just read article on Reuter’s that several conventional vaccines are in the pipeline for Covid(sorry,I don’t know how to do links)and should be available in 2021.
I will take a conventional vaccine using dead or attenuated virus,I will not take the mRNA vaccine anytime soon.
My reasoning is that I’ve taken a multitude of vaccinations over the years without any adverse effects.I’ve taken flu shot at least 25 times and only once did I have a reaction, low grade fever and chills a couple of days.I’ve taken flu shot religiously last 20 years(I’m 70)and I’ve never had a reaction nor have I gotten the flu.
Maybe that will be a game-changer,it will be for me.

A conventional vaccine with the actual virus is basically a normal vaccine like the rest

I think it is interesting that back in April there were several other companies working on additional vaccines with oral and nasal application. Here is one LINK. The sent this release out the end of June. Pay close attention to the T-Covid Update.
"The 3rd cohort was intended to evaluate the efficacy of treatment and enroll patients over the age of 65 or with increased risk of serious sequelae by virtue of pre-existing comorbidities. However, the effective rollout in the United States of authorized COVID-19 vaccines and decreasing incidence of disease significantly reduced the number of patients meeting these criteria, and Altimmune has been unable to enroll subjects in the final cohort."
They ended up terminating the continued research 3 weeks ago when this came out.

OK, but what does that have to do with taking an mRNA vaccine?

Novavax... It is very different from the existing shots and is very promising. It is the next one up and may be authorized by late August.

quote:Yep. Novavax is a relatively traditional vaccine in concept, but with less theoretic complications than attenuated or killed virus preps.

Because he knows how he generally reacts to that type of vaccine because he has history of it so he'd rather wait for that instead of the one that would not be approved today under normal circumstances. How is that not easily understandable?

Genuine question - Has science successfully eliminated ANY respiratory virus via vaccine? Similar to say, success against Polio?
If you accept the need to vaccinate vs. COVID, you accept permanent boosters a la the flu.
