If you could change/prevent a single event in history, what would it be?

It can only be a singlular event.
For example, you can't say "no transatlantic slave trade," you can only say "prevent the transaction that resulted in the first boatload of slaves arriving in Virginia in 1619."
You can't say "loss of the Holy Land and parts of Europe to the Muslims" but you can say the fall of Constantinople.
For me, I'd kill Gavrilo Princip in his crib.

Prevent the assassination of Alexander II. Hopefully that ends up meaning no Bolshevism - which means no Stalin and nobody to support Mao, Kim, and Pol Pot. Could also (maybe) mean no Hitler or Mussolini if there's no Communist threat.

Slavery in America. I’d have the Continental Congress engage in protectionism of Southern plantations in exchange for freeing their slaves.

Well that could change things where one of his fellow conspirators actually manages to kill the Arch Duke the first go around (they got really close to pulling it off) and we’re back where we started. No you wait in that cafe at 10:00 in the morning, wait for Princip to walk in, and when he goes to order his sandwich then you blow his head off.

Wouldn’t that be along some of the most racist motivations?

Very true.
My choice is made with the hope/assumption that someone else doesnt take up his cause.
And killing him right before does make more sense.
