Simulators

Iv been researching the Garmin approach R10, and possibly pairing it with the E6 connect. Also interested in any other thoughts or opinions.

SkyTrak and Mevo+ are your best options currently available for simulation. SkyTrak is camera based and Mevo+ is radar. Mevo+ has space requirements, minimum of about 16ft in length. SkyTrak doesn’t have space requirements so it can work in tighter spaces. Both have their pros and cons.

I confess that I had sticker shock when I first started looking. Will want to keep it under $5K...and really about $3K.

I'm a recreational golfer and not a very good one, so the precision isn't so critical. I'll also be hitting off a mat...and that always seems to lie to me about the quality of my ball striking.

I have a SkyTrak with a mat and a Rukket net set up in my backyard. All in I paid $3k. I disagree with the above poster about it being slow - I run it with the iPad companion app and it’s maybe a 2 second delay with decent internet connection. On my gaming PC it’s almost instant.

It missed a lot of my shots when I first got it but after troubleshooting for a few sessions I’ve got it dialed in and misses are rare now, so I think some of the internet reviews calling it unreliable are a bit of a snap judgement.

The mat certainly will lie to you some about your turf interaction. When I hit one fat off the mat it still goes pretty far, in reality I know it wouldn’t, so you’ll have to take those with a grain of salt.

All in all, I’m really happy with it. There isn’t an accessible driving range within 20 minutes of my house so it’s nice to come home from work and hit for 20-30 mins or for as long as a couple hours. I’ve done some really interesting ball comparisons, compared my new clubs to 20 year old clubs, attempted to play rounds at pebble beach and royal St. George’s using WGT, but the short game on it is infuriating

It’s a fun system, and according to the mygolfspy side by side with the GC Quad it’s very accurate. I’d recommend it

Also somewhat planning a winter simulator install. Seems like right now sky tracks probably best option. Interested in the garmin. Personally waiting to see what happens in the coming months

I have personally used the Mevo+ setup on several occasions and can say that it is a very good setup in that $5k range. Graphics are well done, fairly user friendly, and accuracy of the distances and ball flight is good. Putting has been a little spotty, but in my opinion not that big of a deal, given that you can get a putting mat for cheap and work on that. You can purchase the flight tracker version that syncs to your phone and gives feedback there for $499, but the full simulator version is closer to the $5k mark.

Bushnell and foresight also have a new sim coming out this fall. Looks to be similar to skytrak and since they are using foresight tech it could be really good. Price hasn't been released yet.
