Will American Airlines let my rangefinder fly in my golf bag?

I’ve been hearing stories of some airlines pulling them out of checked bags because of the battery I guess? Mine is a precision pro with a 3v Cr2 battery, pretty standard battery for these things.
I’ve checked it on southwest and had no issues but I’m flying American in a few weeks and don’t know the policy. I’m thinking asking this bored will be quicker then trying to get through their customer service![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

If its a rechargeable lithium battery, just stick it in your carry-on. If its a 9V it can check just fine. Atlanta is the only time mine ever get looked through but we fly Delta all the time.

I flew with range finders in my golf bag on American in June. No issues at all.

I went to a wedding a few years ago and flew with my golf bag checked. Unbeknownst to me at the time I had my .45 Springfield in one of my outer golf bag pockets, loaded. I got home 2 weeks later and was looking for my gun and remember the last place I put it was in my golf bag.
That gun flew loaded in my golf bag. Went through 5 different airports and I played 2 rounds of golf on that trip and never opened that one pocket it was in. Probably the craziest thing I’ve ever unintentionally done.

Just put it in your carry on and lay it in the bucket with your cell and not be a douchebag? If flying AA now means you are someone rich consider me laughing hard…..
